I wonder if SJ would take one year but on good money? That way his earning capacity isn’t cut but we get a chance to assess his ongoing viability before committing long term.

I think SJs priority during the last few years of his playing career is to have a red hot crack at winning a comp.

Whether that means he takes less so we can bring in more talent around him or it means he goes to a team in more of a window than us I don’t know.

Sure as shit don’t think he’s going to the Cowboys or a team who aren’t even close to being near a window.

Yeah imagine trying to recruit for teams like Manly....Dogs or Cows at the moment. On a hiding to nothing.

Retention . 2022 season will see our best players fielding big offers. At least we have money and more in the factory.

I'd be looking to extend Brailey right now before clubs can talk to him in November for 2023. You know clubs will and they'll throw big coin at him considering how many teams need a good hooker.

Having a good look at McGuire on Sat, hard pass. His best is past him.

On Kennedy I'm not rushing out to extend him ASAP. It's only Rd 4 and the majority of people were not very bullish on Kennedy before the last few weeks. I think it takes more than 4 weeks of footy to get a new contract. If he keeps form up another month give him a beefed up one year deal with an option in our favour perhaps. If he proves to be our long term option great, but if something better comes up we have options atleast.

Rudolf the priority for mine. Can take Woods spot next year in the front row.

Moose wasn't fantastic that's for sure. He wasn't horrid either. I'm not convinced his best is behind him. We've all seen hundreds of players who don't do well when they are dead set unhappy where they are.

I think He'll end up a Dragon though

So.

What's the plan if none of them leave and no one wants them if they do wanna leave?

I've read the thread from start to finish. I've participated and thrown 1 or 2 names in. However it's dawn on me the thread is futile. There's no way to know/guess who to recruit when no one knows who is leaving or who the coach is

Yep, makes it hard to recruit when the coach is unknown. I know we signed McInnes but wonder how many we can sign with no coach locked in.

On the retention part, they probably want to know too. No doubt given his track record on retention if they extend Bomber we'll have no issues keeping who we want imo.

I don’t even know that we need too many additions to the squad other than maybe an outside back or two.... as well as replacements for any of the following should they get better offers.... SJ...Woods...Duges and Moylan. I do hope that behind the scenes they are focusing on securing the younger guys that we need to keep namely Toby...W.K... Talakai and Tracey,

You could be right. The Sharks team, if everyone fit and well and not suspended are a good side.

I agree with you 2 phuquers as well. Retention is the place to concentrateon now. There is a solid base for a future side sitting around on 1 year deals down there at Sharktopia
