Dragons not re-signing Dufty to go after Nico....need to up our offer if we’re trying to get him

I wonder if he prefers 5/8th to fullback and that might be enough to get him?

Most clubs seems to want him as a fullback but if we're keeping Kennedy and IF we're actually talking to him then it must be for 5/8th?

Can see him as either. Put it on the table for him to decide but it needs to be done ASAP to work out if we keep Kennedy or Moylan not both

I agree that Kennedy has been a massive improver this year and has been one of our better performers most weeks, but I still have this nagging feeling he isn't the long-term number 1.

He is usually very good in the opposition 20 or 30 and has become increasingly safe under the high ball. His 1 on 1 tackling is poor. Lots of upside, but i'm not sure that i'm sold like everyone else seems to be.

Agree. He is great on a set backline running, passing, short kick but haven’t really seen anything outside of that in attack. Is that due to not having a forward pack, half or hooker not helping or does he not have that instinct to pop up where needed or creat something out of nothing???
Attacking wise I’m happy to stick with that if we can’t land someone game changing.
Defensively is where iv got most of my concerns yes he is great under the high ball but his positioning always seems to be out when defending is always 2 yards away when a team crosses the line or a short kick goes in seems to be jogging in just at the end. Again is that due to the poor performance from the team all over the park making his job harder or is he not reading the play?? I lean towards not reading it but hard to judge.

I am actually a big fan of Kennedy now and think behind a dominant forward pack and a regular halves pairing he would be unreal. Imagine how good he would look at the Panthers or the Storm. Same player, but it would be chalk and cheese, surrounded by a team where everyone pulls their weight.
Defence is still a bit shaky but that will be learnt with experience and confidence in the clowns in front of him.

He is a natural footy player, you can't teach that.

Yep. Build the team by fixing up the complete garbage positions first.

If Kennedy is shit after that then take him out too.

At the moment he is one of the few shining lights so he deserves more time at least.

Okay, do we agree that our greatest needs are:

1. Front-rowers with go-forward and mongrel
2. At least one dominant halfback/five-eighth
3. A decent centre
4. A second hooker

I reckon we have quite a few halves that can be developed, but not one dominant half. The closest we have is SJ...

I am hopeful that our back-rowers will improve with time and experience.

I am happy enough with our back three.

Thoughts?

Think center is ok as much as I’m not a huge fan of noodles think 1 spot is his, then JT and Ferris can fight out for the 2nd or if good enough push noodles out. As much as chambers hasn’t set the world on fire I’d be happy to have him on min wage to mentor JT and Ferris even noodles or 4th choice if he has it in him. Or even Ronaldo/Wilton at a stretch.

Yeah I think they might not go looking for a centre just yet and see what they have internally for now.

Forward pack is the biggest issue, if you have a good pack it can make up for short comings elsewhere.

Halves are obvious

Second hooker might just be McInnes ? Can't think of a better back up hooker in the comp, maybe aside from The Cheese.

I don’t think Fitz settles in any position to be fair. I know he was “supportive” of the current crew in the presser but you can take that with a grain of salt. He ain’t coming here to finish 9-16.

Every position is up for grabs... starting with #1 IMO.
