How much did the costs go up? How much was the ad revenue going to be cut back?
We don tknow anymore as the figures are all hidden away. Be interesting to see if they hide away the website hit rate after this year now as well.

Yep still going. Still has articles the General public can view for free

Just cut back some waste
Cut away the 8 journalists who were generating interesting content that was driving traffic to NRL.com.
Why do you think the media companies were so unhappy about it?
Why do you think they wanted it shut down?
why do you think Grant convinced the commission to invest $100million in it?
Hmmmm I wonder.

This month they are released. I look forward to you making up some excuse as to why they are worse then reality.
Why would they? They use that to sell to sponsors

From 3 mill to 24mill in just a few years, if they arent making a profit on that sort of revenue growth then someones not doing their job properly! Stop kidding yourself it was closed down due to profitability, it was due to News Ltd and Nine demanding it as has been mentioned in numerous articles.
proof of profits ?
i think you'll find thats just revenue , not profits & you don't know if they were doing their job or not , might of been the cause of the down scaling
Vlandys saw the numbers , it was an easy decision

Now we have cut back, Ours is now probably similar to the AFL's. I dont recall them ever publishing there hit rate.

And on the issue of borrowings what happened about the $2 or 3 hundred k the AFL borrowed for Marvel Stadium. More debt I suppose

What programs on NRL.com even come close to what Ch9 or Fox produce?

Grant has been long gone. Many things have changed since then.

Yeah, it kind of makes higher revenue irrelevant if you can't post higher profits
not really, the NRL and AFL are not profit making companies, you'd like to make some surplus to be able to invest in asset acquisition and saving for a rainy day but most of the revenue raised should be spent on delivering the codes strategic plan. More revenue means you can spend more on things like development, grassroots, club sustainability, media profile, community reach etc etc.

Once the surplus reaches a certain level doest the extra go back to the clubs and various state bodies as an extra bonus?

I fail to see to much downside when when revenue made outstrips costs incurred by over $40 million.

There is obviously an agreement with clubs for some of the surplus to go back to them as we have seen from the announcements this month. There’s no downside to making a surplus as long as you’re not neglecting the areas you need to be spending on to keep the sport growing and tne revenue flowing,
