Nine won’t allow it

nor would fox

they want live games on as many nights as possible

hope this rain goes away it’s going to ruin tomorrow night

I wouldn’t want to be the person doing the scheduling for that if that happened. Teams should realistically be getting a 6 day turnaround for games to remain competitive otherwise you’ll see plenty of floggings

Interesting to see who it favours. Probably the Eels if Moses plays.

That would require us to go from $402 to $540mill. Thats quite a jump given our track record!

If we were within 10%, I wouldn’t be so critical. It’s definitely not going to happen with the current administration and/or we try to rush in a 18th team.

The only way it would happen would be to clear the current administration, get some people who can actually negotiate and set out a clear strategy showing where we are going to expand over the next couple of TV deals.

They don't have the ridiculous 6pm Friday games though. Best case scenario move Friday 6pm to Sunday 6pm and bring in Monday 7pm for team 18. Bring forward Thursday and Friday kickoff to 7:30pm. For team 20 it would have to overlap somewhere (either Saturday night or Sunday afternoon).
Another option is to have overlapping games at Fri 7.30pm, Sat 7.30pm and Sun 4pm. That way six games can be played in three time slots and Foxtel can have exclusivity to one while the other is simulcast with Ch9. We need to get rid of Thurs night games and the Fri 6pm game.

If Ten/Paramount get the rights, then on Sunday you could have three games scheduled at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm. Ten has their news at 5pm.

You could keep the 6pm Friday game (one per fortnight) and have the Warriors play it.

f**k news corp. You think they had an interest in Western Sydney or Gold Coast coming in for AFL? The next deal should be about capital cities to drive competitive tendering. I was pretty meh about Adelaide as the game there is so underdeveloped but I've just shot them up the priority list after seeing what AFL has delivered in its tv rights. Our Australian TV deal compared to theirs is pathetic, we have to address that.
They own the game the NRL just runs it for them.

There isn't even a proper Perth bid at the moment. The Bears thing is a joke, they'll play in Perth for a year before heading back to NSW full time. As for the Giants and Suns, they were artificial franchises created by the AFL, not proper bids.

The TV networks love the Storm because they have a big following in Queensland because of their recent success. I don't have the numbers but I'd guess that the Storm have more fans in Qld than the Titans do.

If the NRL is serious about expansion in the other states they would lobby Nine to show more games on their main channel in those states, instead of 9Gem when they turn it over to Antiques Roadshow before the final whistle goes. I know the old NBN channel used to show every Knights game in Newcastle in the old days for example.
How do they keep the Storm at the pointy end of the ladder every single season? This is as good as it gets for the Storm, if they ever tumble down the ladder god help them, they will lose bandwagon support in Melbourne and the big NSW clubs fans won’t be as interested in seeing them beaten, ratings will plummet.

Fact is if the AFL deal was less than yours you’d be all screaming from the rooftops, firecrackers launching into the air, girls being kissed on the street and still paper headlines of ‘We Won’!! Effigies of V’L being marched down city streets.

Amazing isn’t it, fact is you probably got more than you wanted, but someone got more and you can’t handle it, can’t comprehend it, how could this happen!!! It’s only ever happened every single time over the last 30+ years, but next time, next time you guys will show us lol.

Stop playing the f**king victim, maybe try actually supporting your club and your game like AFL fans do.
