Mathematically, $50m isn’t within 10% but I’m being pedantic.

More importantly where are you getting $100m difference? It would be a lot more than that based on the total difference as well as presuming that Seven is paying $170m and the reported cash figure of at least $550m is correct.

Pay TV is over double FTA with these sort of deals.
So $380m for Fox seems plausible

If NRL is $130m FTA
Then Fox is atleast $260m. The $300m I think it was Andrew Webster or Roy Master quoted from Fox seems plausible too

The unknown is whether that includes the $20m a year for Dolphins or just TV rights.
Nor have we got an exact Figure on the NZ rights. It was $32m last deal but SPARK TV over there has been going hard for Sports ( Have the RLWC), So maybe they had to pay overs we don't know that yet.

So you possibly have $400m including that or $450m.

So hence the $100m for the sake of getting the convo going

nope as usual you are wrong lol. SkyNZ deal was $20mill for ever, this deal it will go up to $32.4mill.

Nine $130 mill ($115cash) (media confirmed)
Sky $32.4 (media confirmed)
Fox $240
Total $402.4 (media confirmed as "over" $400mill)

Contra will be around $30mill based on last deals $24.5mill plus the $5mill extra contra from Nine is my guess

If the alleged Dolphins $20 mill a year isnt included in that I'll eat my hat!

Fumblers are claiming it’s more like 600 million cash

oh and the kicker, Telstra has gone from paying them 50 million to 140 million pa

In an ideal world we'd have 20 teams and:
Thursday night
2 simu cast games Friday night 7.30pm
Saturday NRLW then NRL at 3pm, 5pm and 2 games at 7pm
Sunday 2 games at 4pm and a 6pm game

I’d throw in a Sunday afternoon game at 2pm

I haven’t heard anything about the Telstra deal but if they got that ridiculously well done.

$290m from Pay TV seems more plausible but it doesn’t help us. If Pay TV do us a solid (don’t know why they would considering they now have us over a barrel) that just means an extra $50 million tops for us.

haha they've gone from "Telstra wont be paying anything now they dont have streaming rights" to "Telstra have upped payment from $50mill to $143mill". Its hard to keep track of some peoples thinking on here lol

Didn't you once say Redcliffe wouldn't field a team in the Queensland Cup if their NRL bid was successful, or am I getting you mixed up with some one else?

We all know how that prediction turned out.

What evidence do you have that AwFuL is only getting $500m in cash per annum?

Are you basing that assumption on Ch9/Stan's bid of $500m pa?

Going on what I've seen in the media, the bare minimum the AwFuL is getting in cash in $570 per annum. That puts them at $170m per annum more than what we're getting based on media reports for our deal.

V'landys wouldn't have kept the details secret if he signed a good deal. He's a blow hard and a show off who loves to pat himself on the back. He would only hide the details to save his reputation.

Thursday night and Friday 6pm are not great for crowds. And the NRL is already giving enough concessions. Night time finals and GF are other concessions.

And with all of these concessions, the NRL is still getting screwed over at the negotiation table. These concessions need to stop.
Get rid of Friday 6pm and have three Sunday games starting simultaneously at 3pm. Sunday afternoon isn't really a TV slot anyway so it shouldn't be a problem. Local games shown in local markets. Thursday is also terrible and is now getting worse crowds than Monday used to.

Well if we got the deal that we should have then we could have had both. Maybe it’s another way to pressure V’Landys?
The way clubs 'leak' I'm surprised we havent had any comments from any of them about the deal yet. Webster the only journo with the balls to actually run a story so far. Not surprisingly NRL360 totally buried the story as they have with other things that make Vlandys look bad.
You get the feeling Vlandys is going to need a big favour from his mates at News ltd to survive this, problem is favours from Murdoch rarley come without strings attached.

Webster said on radio claiming that a couple of club bosses spoke to him and that they were absolutely fuming about it. Make of that what you will.

Just some more detail on the latest Vlandys f**k up! So we sign with Telstra for $90mill for 5 years - $18mill ($12mill cash) a year which includes replay rights, and NAMING rights for NRL and NRLW.

Meanwhile AFL sign Telstra for $60mill a year according to this which DOESN'T include naming rights, though does include management and revenue generation from AFLs web platforms.

On top of that AFL has a $18.5million naming rights deal with Toyota and a $3million naming rights for AFLW with NAB.

Lets just do the maths here on the Telstra deals and naming rights over a 5 year period:
NRL $90mill + whatever profit they make from digital in 5 years
AFL $300mill + $105mill naming rights

so we get $90mill plus digital profit (somewhere in region of $80-100mill over 5 years)
they get $405mill

ffs!

Some of them can’t I’ll agree. I completely understand their feelings though. The game has given hundreds of millions dollars to their competitor
These are the guys taking record funding from the game and still can’t run their clubs decently

they are the one of the biggest things holding the game back

remember when they spent 10 mill to commission a report that was supposed to be anti expansion but came back pro expansion

they don’t need any more money they have nothing to complain about
