2023-2028 next tv deal discussion

And here we go again. Self interest and the begging bowls are out, game needs to build an asset base, you'd think after covid clubs would understand that!

It would make sense to buy a hotel or resort on the Gold Coast since it's a popular holiday destination. With so many Victorians holidaying on the Gold Coast each year it would help us get some money from AwFuL fans to prop up our game.

These are the guys taking record funding from the game and still can’t run their clubs decently

they are the one of the biggest things holding the game back

remember when they spent 10 mill to commission a report that was supposed to be anti expansion but came back pro expansion

they don’t need any more money they have nothing to complain about
Can you now see why I want a reduction in Sydney teams?

They're the ones pushing for this crap the most because there's not capital nor fan support in Sydney to keep nine NRL clubs in the black.

I agree with you in theory but it goes beyond just clubs and their incompetence. If there is such a significant revenue gap between fumbleball and RL it will eventually start to tell.

Also it is just like anything else. If your company was incompetent enough to gift your competitor hundreds of million dollars of an advantage would you not be concerned?

or bitcoin lol. End of day as long as its a tangible asset on the books and returning around 10% its a something for the NRL to invest in. Problem they have is having serious money to do it, or the credit rating to borrow to do it at a low rate. AFL will have Marvel paid off by the end of this mega deal. That's a massive asset value plus significant revenue generator. Its a shame we dont have the relationship, money and compliant clubs to do something similar in Sydney. Still we can always buy another hotel lol.

Docklands is some asset lol. Looks like one of the old domed NFL stadiums from the 70s...

Not good for anything other than AFL, as proved by how shocking it looked for last night's union game.

Compare nrl clubs to afl clubs

afl clubs are happy for some clubs to get ten million so the crap clubs can get 25 to 30 million

do you see the roosters or broncos taking one cent less so the storm or warriors can get more ?

they are anti expansion

and they literally don’t need any more money anyway

if the tv deal goes up the players will get more and the rest is left for the arlc to fund other projects

vlandys had ensured they got record funding during Covid. They are the last people to complain. Esp when they will sack their coaches regularly and payout millions

Its actually not a bad stadium, went to a test match there years ago and was quite atmospheric with roof closed. Beside the point though, its on prime real estate and is well used and they got it below market value. Therefore the perfect investment.

As I said I agree with you in theory. Nevertheless I can understand why they are angry.

It is also the long term ramifications of this. Clubs are worried about fumbleball spending craploads on grassroots in their areas and poaching junior players.

For $15m a club, The NRL get 80% of development done

Different level of expenses too

What clubs would of been asked?

They are either doing reviews or in the Finals. So very minimal clubs would be part of the discussion

Just because somebody has the guts to swim against the tide of sycophants doesn’t also mean that he hates him. He sees incompetence and criticises it.
I like Webster

for a union fan he actually likes league

but he’s been off vlandys for years

vlandys should probably just ignore his calls in the future

2 of those had teams play last week, I doubt they have been briefed let alone filled in on it all.

Also though it shouldn't be $25m, It should be a set %.

If they game makes more profit, put more aside

Why would they need to be briefed for them to come to their own natural conclusions?

I know people on here like to complain but the Comp has not only budgeted to fund the extra NRLW teams
On top of the existing funding
Give 17 clubs $15m a season

And still put $25m a side, Good times for RL
