It's already happened.

They don't always get everything their own way. This is a bad one.

Yeah but they have a media down there that is very compliant. It wouldn’t be surprised if they were able to bury this by grand final day. Either that or they will be able to successfully frame it as an issue for that club

They shouldn’t be able to and if it were League the story would run and run but it wouldn’t surprise if they are able to.

It's dragged in the Lions coach. Bad PR in Queensland. All gloss of a good season gone for them now.

Good hopefully he goes and it produces an absolute stain for them. Is anybody involved in this mess involved with the Swans?

The other guy involved, according to the article, has also got another job . Hopefully that club gets dragged under as well

It’s made the f**king Monthly’s daily newsletter. Incredibly bad PR nationwide.

Australia is about to have a referendum for a Voice to parliament. No hiding from this one for the AFL.

Seven might bid

at the very least for origin only

our best hope is Stan going for all the rights at 500 million then foxtel having to make a monster bid to protect themselves from collapse
Seven will bid if for no other reason than to force up how much their main competitor Nein has to fork out. Similiar to what Nein did to Seven in the recent AFL negotiations.

Everything was going so well for the AFL. It had just signed off on a mind-boggling TV rights deal. The football had been exquisite. The stadiums had been heaving. The Brownlow Medal count was compelling. The outgoing CEO was on a giant victory lap. The grand final was one of the most eagerly anticipated in years.

That all changed with Wednesday morning’s story on the ABC website. It evoked a sense this entire competition is built on bullshit

Not sure this is the right place for it but yeah it’s another reminder how much of a free pass the AFL gets. The sport has racism ingrained in its core and we see this time and time again (despite people labelling it the indigenous game). Meanwhile I regularly hear in my day to day life people lamenting how NRL players are all dickheads and drongos.

It’s very off topic but it shows the power of the media in this regard.

Perfect time and place to say this mate. They definitely have the media under their thumb. Perhaps this issue being so bad means that a more critical view of fumbleball comes forth. That’s my hope anyway - to be fair those people affected should deserve nothing less.

Absolutely disgusting story and far worse (at least in terms of racism) that has occurred in league

So when we finally get a strong leader who regularly makes fun of afl you think he should be sacked based off a bs afl media release ?

vlanyds is the first leader we’ve had who doesn’t think much of the afl and is determined to see league back where it belongs

I’ve never felt so comfortable about the future of the game as I have since vlandys took control

vlandys took on Victorian racing and now in many ways Racing nsw has surpassed it

he will do the same for rugby league

My problem isn’t that he talks down fumbleball (that is his prerogative) it’s that his actions don’t meet his words.

He doesn’t take them on for one. He then signs us to a deal which is $200 million less than theirs.

Ergo, I don’t care what he says. Actions speak louder than words.
