Why did you ignore where I said 50 to 100 mill
Even 50M annual profit is a borderline insane claim.

You know there are loads of islanders in Australia that have tv don’t you ?Tonga and Samoa don't have the population or TV money to make this as lucrative as Origin.
Australian TV viewers, for obvious reasons, aren't going to be as invested in the contest.
Even 50M annual profit is a borderline insane claim.
You know there are loads of islanders in Australia that have tv don’t you ?
and maybe people who aren’t islanders like me enjoy watching it

Hes a day dreamer, for starters the nrl is a not for profit company lol100m profit annually?
That would make the calls for govt investment in PNG and stadiums seem like greed in the extreme.
There is no way they make that much profit annually, not even remotely.
You know English people call Aussies insular for saying international football can never top originPacific Islander was roughly 207k in 2016. As I said before you might get ok to decent TV numbers but you are not going to get millions of people watching it.
That wouldn’t be the main point of the exercise I would think anyway

USA has almost as many Polynesians as New Zealand. It would be good to promote this game to them. Maybe even take it to Hawaii. You know there are loads of islanders in Australia that have tv don’t you ?

You really are nitpickingI’m just being realistic mate.
A game involving Australia (potentially) if international rugby league continually improves and rivalries grow could reach that number but a game involving two other nations would not be a chance.
I’ll give you a couple of examples
Soccer World Cup Final which would be the biggest event in sport (maybe some Olympic finals might match it) only achieved these figures
World Cup TV Ratings: SBS scores with 9.1 million viewers across 57 matches - Mediaweek
SBS has released its ratings figures for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Final between France and Croatia in Moscow, watched by an average audience of 600,000.www.mediaweek.com.au
Australian open final involving an Australian winning the tournament was the highest ranking women’s final and even then some SOO matches have attracted similar numbers
Barty breaks TV ratings records in drought-ending Australian Open win
Ash Barty’s drought-breaking Australian Open match was one of the highest rated Australian TV moments of the 21st century.amp.theage.com.au
Achieving ratings that SOO that generally obtains every year is extraordinary and it often achieves similar or better ratings than many of the biggest international sporting events. The idea that a Samoan va Tongan or other such fixture would achieve similar ratings is implausible at the very least.
You really are nitpicking
and the soccer World Cup is usually on some awful time
did you see the Samoa war cry last night ?
Ok if they focus on international football it will become massive how’s that lolHow am I nitpicking?
I’m just suggesting that SOO ratings are incredible and that Australians watch things that Australians are involved in. To suggest that ratings for two island countries would reach those numbers I think is incredibly optimistic or borderline fanciful.
As I said though I wouldn’t care about the ratings because I think its value would be in other ways and in my opinion, it’s value to the future of the game is much more than SOO.
Matt parishSamoa standing as a Rugby League powerhouse may be a slightly over stated
Matt parish
If Ivan Cleary was coaching them it would’ve been different
even the johns boys would’ve gotten a better result
Me too. As soon as the RLWC is finished my Kayo subscription is cancelled till next season. Not watching RLWC? Mine will be cancelled once f1 and RLWC is finished up.
You can't put 40 plus down to purely "coaching".
What i like to see with end of season internationals is to bring back the 4 nations. Below the 4 nations, have a second tier of 4 countries and have promotion/relegation. A team that comes last in the 4 nations gets relegated, and the team coming first in the second tier, gets promoted.
