But you’ve added digital for afl and ignored the nrl digital revenueWhy not. Youve added Nines radio rights to the deal. We havent even done that for the AFL.
lmao

lmao
haha nrl has never, and I repeat NEVER announced a cash only media deal. It’s great spin but totally untrue lolYet the NRL themselves say they report in cash, The predicted revenue has gone up enough to back up those comments.
$400m add 20% of whatever is still 'Over' $400m that the actual announcement said
Before Vlandys hid it away the nrl digital had a revenue of $26mill. Of course there are significant costs and investments related to generating that revenue which afl doesn’t carry in its telstra deal, telstra carry those.Youve got radio rights in yours. The AFls arent included - and they were announced a week later.
The AFL has Telstras digital rights including the ownership and operation of the AFL web network because they were actually sold in the same deal that was announced all at the same time. NRL digital rights werent sold to anyone, The NRL retains them in house. We've been over this. Go ahead and add them to your overall broadcast revenues, but you cant add them to any media rights sale revenue.
The NRL sold Telstra its naming rights with some contra services thrown in separately.
So we're getting about two-thirds of what they're getting. Before Vlandys hid it away the nrl digital had a revenue of $26mill. Of course there are significant costs and investments related to generating that revenue which afl doesn’t carry in its telstra deal, telstra carry those.
but let’s say for arguments sake we add everything in at a basic revenue level
Afl $653mill all media
nrl $428 all media
it doesn’t get any better sadly for us.
So I’m rightYouve got radio rights in yours. The AFls arent included - and they were announced a week later.

If that turns out to be the case then looks like Fox lose the NRL at the next rights deal. Good luck paying those AFL rights when more than half their subscribers flee en masse to a competitor.I doubt anyone thinks that, at least in the short to medium term. Question is can fox afford to increase their $240mill for nrl in 2028?
paying an estimated $390mill for afl can’t leave much fat on the bone to up nrls payment unless there is a massive hike in subscribers or fees.
To be fair the Lions and Suns only still exist thanks to years of bailouts from the AFL. Saying that the AFL does have the extra cash to prop up these expansion basket cases. No they didnt. This is about what I expect from someone who doesnt understand the terms of the deal the AFL signed in 1997 for Docklands.
Docklands was a BOOT project - Build. Own. Operate. Transfer. The AFL bought the land outright. the AFL then literally had a rent to own agreement for the stadium itself - which is why rent was so high there for years. In 2025 under the deal, the AFL would get the stadium for $30.
The stadiums owners were being reportedly trying to sell to the League from 2015, and the League ended up basically buying the stadium for the remaining debt the owners had in November 2016..
Most AFL clubs arent swimming in debt at all.
Yes because Western Sydney is the whole damn country. the AFL runs a national sport. Not just a pocket in Sydney.
Unfortunately with them having the cricket would mean I'd keep kayoIf that turns out to be the case then looks like Fox lose the NRL at the next rights deal. Good luck paying those AFL rights when more than half their subscribers flee en masse to a competitor.
And yet the NRL dont just report in cash. And they do report Contra. Its almost like people dont read the reports.
Why not. Youve added Nines radio rights to the deal. We havent even done that for the AFL.
Contra is included in revenue, then removed as a cost in The account reporting lolSince the profit share with the players?
because
Explainer: What broadcast deal means for the game
Players, clubs, NRLW, grassroots, fans to benefitwww.nrl.com
The NRL have announced that revenue from the game's three broadcast partners - Nine, Fox Sports and Sky NZ - will total more than $400m per annum for five years from 2023 until 2027.
Nine have confirmed that their share of the deal is valued at more than $600m, including a contra component, which will be used to promote the game and support targeted grassroots initiatives.
Given there is a Revenue share with the players, Putting the $50m or so Contra in as revenue makes zero sense. Unless of course you can pay players with Channel 9 ad space

stupid afl gonna be paying their players in free Telstra phones
Until the afl are honest and tell us how much each network is paying them the the only way we can judge is look at the afl bottom line and whether funding to clubs and players not only goes back to pre covid levels, but actually surpasses them like the nrl doesIt is what it comes down too, Cash is king
“The majority of the money they (the AFL) are getting is between 2027-31 ... we haven’t done a deal for those years yet, so how can people compare something when there is nothing to compare at the moment?
Can anyone confirm when the current NRL TV deal expires?
