So a news ltd journo wouldn’t know how much they paid
cmon lol
Call me crazy but it’s Almost like this is a tv rights discussion.Weird though. If there was a Rugby League racism scandal you’d be commenting on the lack of response from the NRL within minutes?
Call me crazy but It’s almost as if you’re an AFL fan trolling a Rugby League site.
It’s much more likely the tv part of the deal is the $550mill a year cash that has been quoted a few times ($3.85bill) . Telstra making up the other $22-25mill ish a year cash to take it to the “over $4bill“ cash that afl has quoted. You honestly think they are sitting there in the middle of the negotiations don’t you? There are a whole bunch of possibilities
1. They could of announced it before they actually officially concluded the negotiations - so the final figure could have increased.
2. They might have been fed the wrong numbers - think of it like the game Chinese Whispers.
3. It could have been a simple typo or copy error. Do you understand for example that the whole industry of journalism has changed over the last 10 years. Previously you had journalists, then you had editors, then you had sub-editors. You had press photographers. People in charge of layout etc. There has been a massive reduction in the numbers in this industry and the concept of specialisation has essentially been eroded - so you have journalists in charge of their own copy or doing the layout. That in turn means more errors. If you like, go and read a newspaper and you’ll notice more and more errors yourself
4. You are right. It could be the right amount but it shouldn’t have been released and was ordered off the page as soon as possible
Essentially what you are saying is only one possibility, rather than the only possibility.
Google it you lazy arse, or trawl back through the 200 pages of this thread where whats available has been posted numerous times lolSometimes you have to call out dickheads, I asked many times for links... nothing which means he is full of shit
I doubt it’s actually 500 million cashi think someone said the 3.5 bill was the cash component of the deal
500 mill a year
the rest including teltras entire contribution of upgrades to marvel stadiums wi fi .. in contra
142 mill of contra ... wow
racistball & rubbery figures
peas in a pod
I doubt it’s actually 500 million cash
it still probably includes the same contra as last time
so say 470 million cash is what the broadcasters pay
I also think I read they added an extra round to the season (magic round) which they hadn’t revealed before
the smoke and mirrors on this one is worse than last time

Did you miss the afl announcement where they clearly said over $4bill is cash?i think someone said the 3.5 bill was the cash component of the deal

Haha, i hope your prediction is better than the ones you’ve been making over last two years ieOver the next few years before this deal starts, The big picture will come out and it won't be nearly as bad as headlines show
A couple of weeks ago, i was questioning the amount of AFL content under NRL media watch. And that has continued on.Tv rights thread, if I wanted to talk about the horrible racist problems their sport has I’d go to the fight club were it belongs, so let’s get back to tv deals.

Yes, partly because of the impact the AFL deal will have on the NRL. How the media rights cash will help the AFL encroach into NRL heartland. But it still should've been in the rightful place in the AFL forum. But since the moderators are lackadaisical, I might as well talk about aerial ping pong.
With a recent article involving potential racism and other serious matters in the AFL, it may slow down their gains in NSW and Qld especially If the allegations are true. And even if the allegations are false, unfortunately mud does stick .
They may well be swimming in rivers of gold, but if the racism theme continues to be a regular occurance in the future, then it will be hard for the AFL to grow beyond their heartland states.
And lose indigenous players.Furthermore, they might lose casual fans across Auatralia if this continues. They will probably lose corporate sponsorship over this, particularly if the stories continue.
They managed to weather the Adam Goodes situation and still manage to be called the indigenous game. People have short memories and frankly this country just doesn’t care that much about indigenous people unfortunately. There’s no doubt they dodged a bullet getting the tv deal done before this broke. Having said that business is hard nosed and itll all be blown over with talks of reconciliation plans and atsi academies or something. Hopefully for the sake of those who play and follow their game they go deeper and sort it out properly. Like I said what ive read is disgusting and people need to be fired if substantiated.
if I was nrl I’d have used some of my contra to run some ads right now showing why rugby league has always been the countries most inclusive game!
but back to tv deals lol.

People have a way of compartmentalising this sht, I mean we’ve had countless incidents of nrl players and staff abusing women yet here we still are.The cynic in me suggests you’re right. They will mainly weather it as they’re brainwashed down there. However, I still think it will be harder for them than Adam Goodes because the accusations are a lot of worse. This isn’t fans but something that has come from clubs and their management.
Considering there track record with lying on NSW/QLD crowds, participation rates and previous media deals you'd be crazy not to question their numbers. When you break it down based on 7 paying a 15% increase the numbers for Fox just don't add up ....Did you miss the afl announcement where they clearly said over $4bill is cash?
AFL signs $4.5b, seven year broadcast deal with Seven and Foxtel
The record deal keeps the AFL with Seven and Foxtel for seven more years until 2031.www.afr.com
