Drunk poms and Welshmen might want to concentrate on their own comp and crowds.
It would appear judging by FTA ratings that the Brisbane fumbleball team consistently outrates the Sydney fumbleball team. So you have to ask yourself why is that so.Why would you want to make Brisbane more like Sydney?
Let the Broncos and dolphins build up a good long lasting rivalry and start regularly selling out suncorp, don't mess with a good thing
As Wookie is a little late, last weekend was the largest ever round 12 by about 20k. However, in context, many round 12s are origin affected with numerous byes
you'll undercut the dolphins, give them a decade to cement themselves, not introduce a 3rd wheelIt could also be a strike while the irons hot scenario. Rugby League in Brisbane has got some strong momentum, why not capitalize on it.
A better way to analyse this data would be the lions ratings when head to head with the broncos (and dolphins), what it might actually be is just that you have a decent chunk of broncos fans who will watch the lions when their no.1 team isnt playing. It would appear judging by FTA ratings that the Brisbane fumbleball team consistently outrates the Sydney fumbleball team. So you have to ask yourself why is that so.
Now I`m not suggesting we turn Brisbane into another Sydney with regard to the number of NRL teams, but you do have to wonder whether it is the saturated Sydney market that has led to this difference.
I wouldn`t rush another Brisbane team in, but I wouldn`t leave it too long either.

How dare you call me Welsh.Drunk poms and Welshmen might want to concentrate on their own comp and crowds.
People also forget that SEQ is more than just Brisbane and could easily accommodate one more teamThat is the exact argument of the Broncos prior to the Dolphin.
they both seem to be doing ok
Like say a team at the gold coast maybe?People also forget that SEQ is more than just Brisbane and could easily accommodate one more team
It hasn't even been half a season! Let the dolphins have some breathing room at least. That is the exact argument of the Broncos prior to the Dolphin.

Agree with this. Dolphins have had a better start in their debut season than a lot of people thought they would, and I'm sure that has helped with some of the crowds they have drawn this year. What we don't know, and won't know for a few seasons yet, is if the team starts struggling or if it isn't living up to the expectations of the fans (ie. still winning, but not as much as fans think the squad is capable of), what their crowds look like.Like say a team at the gold coast maybe?

Even then, another Brisbane team should only come in when the two we have now are both playing full time at lang park and averaging 30k plus each i believe.
Not every suburb needs a team in the premier competition.
Don't think Eels Cowboys will get 20kso
on we go & 1st round affected by origin
Thurs Phins V Dragons at Kayo 10K sellout
Fri Parra V Cowboys at Commbank 20K
Sat Warriors V Broncos at Napier 20K
Sat Souths V Raiders at Accor 15K
Sun Newc V Manly at Mc Donalds 20K
pretty tidy considering
their lowest crowd of the season at 8pm on a Friday night ?Don't think Eels Cowboys will get 20k
Around 14k i reckon or maybe less.
Yep GC, Dolphins, Broncos and easily one more out West. I agree, let the Dolphins settle in first but a fourth team is absolutely doable and will still get huge crowds, memberships, sponsorships etc. I would stop there though. Just enough, but not too much to saturate. Also the North, Central, South, West spread gives each team their own patch.Like say a team at the gold coast maybe?

The off-field stuff that happened with the Titans is not going to happen to the Dolphins. Plus Brisbane is a completely different sporting market than the Gold Coast with a completely different attendance culture. Add to that the fact that the Dolphins are very well established in the Brisbane RL scene and have built a huge business long before entering the NRL.Agree with this. It maybe a case that the variance is minimal, or that by the time we can see that, the fanbase has been solidified, and they are comfortably drawing 25K+ regardless, but we should at least give them a bit of breathing room.
People forget but when the Titans came in, they were drawing over 20K and there was big hopes over them being this big new powerhouse in South-East Queensland and have this great rivalry with the Broncos which would draw over 40K at Suncorp, etc. We unfortunately saw what happened there, and whilst the hope is that the Dolphins are better positioned to not 'repeat the Titans', we shouldn't just rush in and start locking in a third Brisbane team, especially when there are other valuable markets which currently have 0 NRL teams.

Best ever crowd between Eels and Cowboys at old Parra stadium was 15,131 in 2006.After last week's result, there could be more than that.
I think last time they met at Commbank was during Covid.
