Do you really think because you are premiership favourites you have to sell out every game?
4 sell outs at Penrith this year! No other has such a record. ( not counting Shark Park!)
>90% capacity average. Nobody else comes close!

How many sell outs were there across the season?

Warriors had more sellouts and 90% capacity average as well.

Official fixtures

NRL Telstra Premiership Finals Series – Week 2

Semi Final: Friday, September 15, 7.50pm (EST), AAMI Park
Melbourne Storm v Sydney Roosters

Semi Final: Saturday, September 16, 6.05pm (4.05pm EST), Go Media Stadium
New Zealand Warriors v Newcastle Knights

NRL Telstra Premiership Finals Series – Week 3

Preliminary Final: Friday, September 22, 7.50pm (EST), TBC
Penrith Panthers v Winner of Melbourne Storm/Sydney Roosters

Preliminary Final: Saturday, September 23, 7.50pm (EST), Suncorp Stadium
Brisbane Broncos v Winner of Warriors/Newcastle Knights
So looking like 45k to 55k for week 2 depending on if mt smart gets the temporary stands and how big of an impact the afl playing at the same time effects the Melbourne crowd.

50k for brisbane and anywhere from 35k to 50k for panthers prelim.

Plus 80k for the grand final will get us a total of 305k to 330k at an average between 33,888 to 36,666.
Pretty good, double the season average and with sell-outs at most games.

Disastrous time slot for storm/roosters

95k will be across the road at the same time. Would have been perfect for Saturday night with no AFL in town.

NRL needs to show some balls and just compensate channel 9 for lost revenue.

Well the nrl are happy with 12k crowds for finals anyway so even if only 20 k turn up they are winning.

this newcastle atmosphere seems louder then the broncos QF. I was at the broncos game but the knights game seems super loud on tv
Yeah, half of us being wet calmed us down, but 50,000 going off at Walshy's try in particular was pretty nuts. Newy was a tense game.

Our prelim will be wild. 2015 v Roosters was like an origin decider.

Current state or not it really is a sub-par ground for regular games, let alone a final. If complaining about it won't change anything than either will just accepting it and letting them use it.
Anyway I'm sure the real motivation for playing there is more the rent money the sharks recieve from the nrl than the home game aspect.

Was Sco Mo there?

For all my years watching NRL, I did not know that the Sharks stadium was located right next to a body of water. Like, genuinely only discovered this 5 minutes ago.
