Signs are good that a new stadium will keep the fans. Sydney FC have far and away the best average in a-league and you just have to look at other grounds around Australia like commbank, suncorp, Adelaide oval etc that have maintained very good crowds.

Will it be as high as this year, probably not. We can't expect games against souths to continue getting 38k IMO, a 30k average would be more than acceptable. Hopefully we maintain 20k average against other Sydney sides with decent time slots.

My comment was more in relation to the general flack we cop about fans or lack thereof. Parramatta is the only Sydney club I would say that has a significantly bigger fanbase than us. Others might have a bigger one but not significantly so IMO. Dragons is potentially the other but they have a lot of disenfranchised fans at the moment.

Winning helps of course. Dragons start to win and crowds will surge

That is why the ratings are lower on a Sunday and no guarantee the extra crowd makes up for it

I think to be honest there are probably 5-6 Sydney teams that have decent supporter groups and would show it when they are going well. Like for example the Tigers would have a big supporter group but they have been rubbish on the field for about a decade or more. Same with Canterbury and same with Dragons. When they are going well, their support will be seen

The ground will help your club though. Playing in modern facilities helps clubs - it has helped Parra and it will help you.

Exactly right. Successful teams build larger supporter groups although with their success they probably should have more supporters

Decent chunk live in the inner west. I think the early real estate boom squeezed them out here. Roosters often visit my kids’ primary school despite it being a part of Tigers catchment. Central Coast has a decent population too

Ah ok. When I think about it though I guess that makes sense. Those areas have become quite gentrified.

Around 15-20 years ago, the then Director of Marketing at the Roosters told me that their research indicated most of its fan base lives in western Sydney or outside Sydney altogether.

Really? Back in my day in the Shire, 70s-90s, I knew about six Easts fans.

Not sure about that, if the NRL can continue on its` current trajectory and the appeal of attending these 21st century stadiums becomes better known I`d say there is no reason at all why we shouldn`t see crowds continue to grow.
Hopefully, attending NRL games becomes an experience in the same way the fumblers attract crowds for the same reason.
