The Game 2023 Crowd Watch

That sucks when that happens.

That was one of the contentious issues in last year's world cup, people were saying they should drop tixs cheaper to fill stadiums but they instead decided to keep prices the same as it wouldn't be fair to those that had been loyal and bought thier tickets early at full price.
agreed.
giving away freebies/discounts is such a short term sugar hit. we're all stoked attendance hit 20k, but now it may effect ticket sales in Melbourne next time. Those who paid full price and got burnt may not book early next time as they'll wait for the discounts...and those who got the freebies know not to bother buying next time and hold out to see if they can get them next time.

why not just start with cheaper tickets?
10k tickets sold @ $40 plus 10k @ half price or freebies
vs
20k tickets sold @ $20

I know the above example is a generalisation, but I know which strategy Id aim for as an organiser looking for long term fan satisfaction and sales.

You raise a very good point. I think a happy medium is $20 tickets with targeted promotion. An organic 20k audience is easily achievable but to be honest unless you’re a rusted on league fan there was no way of knowing this game was on.

The 3 games have officially sold out.
3 games and a total of over 100 000 fans.
It makes a massive difference being a world wide sport and football probably has more fans in this country than any other sport. It's a shame that they can't transfer that to the local comps because it would be a massive boost to rectangular stadium upgrades.
Shut up

Actually, no, you shut up.
11 games of the Pacific Championship has just over 90 000 fans. Meh.
2 Matilda's games have almost 80 000 so far. Undeniable facts, with one more game to go at HBF with another 20 000 sellout.
My point is that the more successful they and the Socceroos are, the better chance that all rectangular sports can lobby for stadium upgrades in this country.
Parramatta's upgrade was also built on the early success of the Wanderers, as was the re-build of Allianz with SFC and Waratahs and concerts.
Hate football all you like, but the more successful it is in this country, the better it will actually be for RL, and just remember, the two sports here aren't really in competition, considering they play in different seasons.

You can't go counting double headers for the League as separate games and then go ignore the fact that the 3x Matilda games are all double headers as well with the Philippines, Iran & Chinese Taipei all playing at the same venue.

Full credit to the Matildas, they are getting great crowds, they deserve the 77,953 that they've attracted so far and the 90K+ they'll get over 3 rounds.

It's what the Pacific Championship should be aiming to attract, versus the 61,997 it has done so far for the main Championship.

Your figures are a little out but that's just semantics on my behalf. All good.
59155 tonight at Optus for the Matilda's. RL would die to have a crowd like that.
Not sure what your point is though re the Matildas. They aren't double headers. They are all separate games on different nights. Not double headers, and not played at the same venue.

''RL would die to have a crowd like that.''

RL holds the record at the ground in normal configuration. hahahaha

In rectangular mode with 5k extra seating the Bledisloa between Aus/NZ holds the ground record.

They too are double headers mate. All 3 events have been/are double headers, it's clearly promoted on each of the stadium websites as such.

Rugby League got a crowd like that for SOO ate same venue in 2019 and over 61,241 for Wallabies v All Blacks.

Ticket sales look dire for the Final n Hamilton on Saturday. Maybe a few thousand at best on sold? But at least every seat is on sale it looks like.

A number of bays look like the back 5 or so rows are on hold, but at least they're not doing odd-row sales.

Behind the posts appears to be selling the best. Of the goal line terrace, about 700 of the 800 seats have been sold and the green zone is meant to be half sold, which would put it between 2-3K.

Grandstand Bronze seem pretty meh at the moment, with maybe 15% of tickets allocated.

Gold & Silver is possibly around 20% sold in the Brian Perry Stand and maybe 2% sold on the other side. Platinum is back to row M in the lower bays in the BP Stand and maybe F on the upper. On the Eastern side, Platinum has some sales in the lower & again upper is dead.

There are a couple of lower Platinum bays which are in the TV arc that I haven't seen go on sale. I'm hoping they are already preallocated in some way.

I'd suggest if kick off was tonight they could name 8K, but it certainly has 2018 NZ v Australia at Mt Smart sales vibes.
