Agreed, they did go about it on their own, they weren't pushed into it by any means, but what I'm more unhappy with is that folks tend to bag out one business for the repercussions of morons, like that dude who ate maccas for like every meal, then sued them coz he was fat..
I just dont see the issue with gambling companies having adverts on jerseys any different then fast food etc
You seem hung up on all these small incidents and seem intent on generalising them as though they're widespread though.

In terms of sponsorships, there are thousands of companies around who sink money into sport through sponsorship. We won't be missing much if they decide not to use gambling funds to do that, just like we're not really missing tobacco sponsors either.

A government stepped in not exactly viable everytime a sponsor falls through
The tourism arm of the government, which is a common thing for sport. Destination NSW, Queensland Live etc all sink far more into NRL annually

Where does it end though? Simple question with no answer. Almost every company some people or group could find fault with

you think cash convertors and mining are more harmful than gambling to the individual in this country? bless

'Estimates suggest that Australians lost approximately $25 billion on legal forms of gambling in 2018–19, representing the largest per capita losses in the world'

95% of people who gamble do so within their means.

Compare that to someone who is out of money, Loan money only to need to pay it back with 20% or so on top of it.

Why do you think the world is heading towards green power if mining tihings like coal is fine?

10% of men who gamble have identified as having gambling problems. Its been identified that problem gamblers spend significantly more than others.

They show that 47.5% of problem and pathological gamblers spend $100 or more on gambling in an average month, compared to only 8% of non-problem gamblers. For example, 80% of revenue from fixed-odds sports betting is generated by 5.7% of gamblers,

Problem gamblers are blowing well over $2.5billion a year and cant stop. Its a sht industry that has little beenfit and that we should not be normalising and encouraging people to particpate in. In my opinion.

Modus are absent from the new St George Illawarra training jerseys but they are still listed as an apparel partner on their website. Also the University of Wollongong are on the front right leg of the training shorts which will hopefully replace Sportsbet on the match day shorts

Not the millions and millions say the car industry would.
Is that the sound of goalposts shifting?

Yes, yes it is.

It moves, like everything, with societal expectations.

Just last year there was uproar from some about Bravus (formerly Adani) on the Cowboys' sleeves. They decided to ignore the critics and continue.

It's nowhere near as pervasive as you think.

Yeah, how dare anybody discuss anything relevant of interesting... Instead we'll just sit here and lust over a jersey that hasn't been released yet.

gambling advertising is going to be massively restricted soon anyway, very similar to smoking with negative taglines that have to be added.

So.. bringing this back to topic - does anyone know what teams are likely to have new designs for 2023?

You know.. 2 (or is it 3?) years elapsed since last redesign, new jersey manufacturer etc...

I'm hoping the Warriors get a redesign to go with the change in sponsor name from Vodafone to One NZ - that current Puma jersey really isn't a good spin on the 1995 design - it just doesn't have the CURVES that V needs.

Cowboys should have been Stockmen, Broncos = Brumbies
Nah they should have been the Crocodiles (Crocs)

And no the basketball team wasn't called the Crocs at the time (they were the Suns).

The word is that the local Townsville Union side was called the Crocs, and objected that that name being used but frankly who gives a flying f**k, throw them a few bucks.

It's honestly amazing how the Dolphins have manged to take red and gold, one of the best colour combos on the planet, and make it so ugly.

Their problem is that the shades are way off. Changing the shade of gold to a darker shade like old gold or brilliant gold would go a long way to fixing their problems. Moving from a bright red to blood red, or maybe something even darker like burgundy, would make the gold pop even more and look amazing as well.

They should also look to either replace white with a dark grey or black in their colour scheme, both of which go much better with gold than white, or use the white much more sparingly in their kit.

They also need to lower the ratio of gold to red on their home jersey as well, and explore using materials that actually give a metallic effect as well.

I agree with what you are saying with the red/gold but it's nearly saying to fix it they should change to Broncos colours. It's already far too close as it is.

The shade of red Redcliffe have used for years is great, no idea why they changed it. White seems to have always been in their plans, but they should never have picked gold as the third colour. Red/white/black, red/white/grey were much better options.

The gear is hideous, something about the shade of red is so amateur, real Gold Coast Suns vibes (Dolphins are giving them a run for the worst sporting branding in Australia). Classic are also by far the worst apparel makers which makes it worse. I've watched their recent Instagram posts and it looks like a local junior team training.
