Its easy to blame players of certain clubs, such as the Panthers but lets be real. Freddie is the problem.

There's a saying, 'Good players can't overcome bad coaching'. It's certainly the case with the Blues.
I think if you are saying "we are going for combinations that work at club level" then it is basically saying that I have NFI how to coach them and hope that they can do what their club coach tells them

To be fair, Penrith have been very dominant. Not dissimilar to the Broncos having a mortgage over QLD origin squads of the past.

I think the best players should be picked. Irrespective of combinations. It would allow for more variety and give players real motivation to get into the squad.

Club combos and 'superstar' statuses breed reliance on potential and takes away from the standout players of that season.

I'd love a players vote or a fan vote for a bench and/or starter. Imagine the chaos! A 'wildcard' pick, for lack of a better term

Lol I do love how bad the smugs daddy calls have blown up on them
Yeah, they are regretting winning those comps for sure. Those blokes that have never played in a GF sure showed them.

Edit, just realised Val is one of the ones in pic, but I'll stand by the point anyway. Ha ha.

That though has been a selection mantra for the best part of 20 years if not longer. It's not something you could necessarily pin on Fittler alone. Heck even back in the early 1980s (iirc, it was 1983), it was part of a justification for selecting the entire Parramatta halves and three quarters for NSW with its fullback (Paul Taylor) the only one missing in the NSW line up for an origin game.

Oh so post match interviews is what determine a great coach then does it?

You just made yourself LU's version of Pee Wee Herman using your own comparison and by using that flat out stupid criteria. There are plenty of rugby league coaches who are great public speakers but have horrible records as a head coach.

Matt Elliot got a gig at the Raiders over Craig Bellamy because he interviewed better

Which obviously worked out well for the Raiders

Grapple's review:

It was a very enjoyable game.
Both teams showed heart.
QLD clearly wanted it more.
Tedesco is done.
Turbo is done.
Fitler is done.
Imagine if Billy Slater played for Brisbane instead of Melbourne?
Nicho is the future for NSW
Unreal how little Cam Murray played.

Multi:

Holmes try scorer
Coates try scorer
QLD 13+

= win for Grapple

Lol yes. The entire Melbourne office for the bank I work for do nothing but go to Noosa and wear white linen and gold jewellery. But then tell everyone that the peninsula (and the one month of a year that it's warm enough to swim there) is better ffs
I think there was an article somewhere from a few years back that compared Sorrento (some underwhelming sea side town in Victoria) to the Amalfi coast (Italy)... now if you've even been to the Amalfi coast or seen pictures of it you would fall on the ground laughing at the delusion.

I just fell off the Path of the Gods in shock at this post and I haven't been in Amalfi for five years
