Who's better than him? Cleary was part of the biggest winning series margin for NSW in 2021, he was replaced by Moses for game 3 and they lost having destroyed QLD in the first 2 games. THe only difference for the game 3 squad being he and Luai were out. So the replacement halves had the same team to work with and not only couldn't dominate, they couldn't win.

All this being equal, none of the other options have been any better than either player. At the end of the day the halves only have what Freddy gives them to work with, and that's no game plans and a team that was picked with no real thought behind who is playing. This only worked when Queensland had a coach who didn't have a clue either.

For Game 1 Fittler took the Panthers right edge because of the combinations they have.... and put them on the left, breaking up the defensive combination of Cleary, Martin, Crichton and To'o who are the best defensive right edge in the competition.

This weakened defence on both sides of the field and it removed the combination and instincts that Crichton and To'o have playing on the right side. Martin coming off the bench was just about the best player on field but he really should have been starting on the right and keeping that right edge in tact. Likewise with Cam Murray. It took Fittler 2 lost games to start with his two best second row options? Even after Game 1, he didn't see the immediate impact these guys made and decide to start with them.

Those little things make selecting combinations pointless. At this point they have no advantage over picking a left centre and winger from any club on the left. It's actually a disadvantage to NSW as that left centre and winger will atleast be in their natural position even without combinations. It's something so stupid it's still unbelievable Fittler wanted blokes out of position while his reasoning for picking them was the combinations he was then ignoring.

Being part of a Fittler team is doing no favors to anyone at the moment. He has always done crazy weird shit, but it gets worse each year. He's only doing harm to rep careers. Under a competent coach who picked players for a reason some of these guys might never have had a chance, but the ones who did wouldn't be on a hiding to nothing.

Is this the end of Young in rep footy? Luai? Hynes? Paulo? Why drop those guys but keep the captain who was horribly out of form before the series started and has only hurt his team by trying to overplay his hand? Tedesco should have been the first player dropped after game 1, which he should never have been picked for.

This game Gutho has been thrown to the wolves like Hynes was. What's he going to do from the bench? His only other rep games were equally as poor decisions with Freddy thinking he could just take any fullback and throw him in the centres because it worked with Turbo.

I think it's in players best interest to be nowhere near the blues team this year. If by some miracle they won game 3, it really doesnt prove anything. But a loss is just going to be further damaging to everyone involved even though the issues clearly start before the team was picked.

Nailed it.

NSW will get pumped and it won't be the halves fault, team selections and no game plan

As I've said previously, this is just a hobby for Fittler, a bit like a rich bloke's hobby farm where you buy an alpaca, a miniature pig, plant a few macadamia trees. Doesn't matter if it doesn't work.

Can't wait to see the back of the fool.

Bingo. Difference is that Slater views the Maroons job as his audition for a full-time NRL coaching gig and is giving it the time and effort it deserves.

And won in 2021. With the same guys just a fit Murray, Latrell and Tommy with them
I think that was the "plan" this year - they could rely on the individual brilliance of Latrell and Tommy in the centres to give them the edge over Queensland
When they weren't available it showed that they had not other ideas

Young played well in Game 1?! Lay off the drugs son. He was poor.

That left side came good when he was replaced by Liam Murray in the first half.

Young was fine in both games. Ran the same line Martin did for a try twice early into space but Eshay Luai didn't hit him.

Fine isn't enough to win Origin but the blokes putting a line through him weren't watching IMO

Correct and in time they haven't played in the past

Staggs
Gutho
Talakai
Burton

Have been used and discarded for now Best. So haven't even used those games to forward plan.

Burton was 18th man in Game 1 and 2. Is a test centre and now brushed.

That is where NSW lacks, Go for random left field selections that are poorly thought out

Line breaks and the like haven't been an issue, lack of support has been.

It goes further, look at his assistants.

JT and Smith come up with a plan and they pick a side and tactics to match.

Meanwhile NSW have Joey who shares Freddy's bongwater and Mary McGregor

Sorry but Young in game 1 was more noticeable for giving away a dumb penalty. For 30 minutes of game time, in Game 1, his stat line was 5 runs for 35 metres, 12 tackles and 2 missed tackles (according to Channel Nine). I said it after Game 1 he should have been dropped.

Game 2 he was decent, but please don't try and sell me a mini-minor and tell me its a Ferrari in relation to his performance in Game 1.

Lol at hyperbole

A Ferrari is just fine? Ok my guy.

Is that strip penalty? The one he called, NSW player dropped out, and then f**king TPJ came from 28m away to practically cannonball the QLD bloke just as Young stripped it?

Like I said. Not watching.

I dont think Young was very good in game 1, tried too hard to be a tough guy when he should have just focused on high energy, involvement and smashing blokes that ran near him.
But you're 100% right about that penalty. TPJ was more at fault for his stupidity than Young.

He was good in game 2 and didnt deserve to get dropped for game 3. Again, no issues about the back row selected but he should have been picked on the bench imo

He was picked because he's a grubby deadshit but then he didn't even gouge a single eyeball

Yeah look he didn't set the world on fire but he was fine. Could have been a very different discussion if Luai had hit him with two passes. He should have started on the bench behind Martin, especially as a rookie

Freddy clearly told him to go out there and be a tough bloke rather than playing footy. I just mean there's no reason I can see to put line through him forever or to carry on like he's the reason we lost. He's still a better footballer than Liam Martin but look where experience has got him

You are talking about Liam Martin the Australian 2nd rower right? Get off the gear mate. Hudson Young is a good footy player, but Liam Martin is much better at this stage.

It’s likely to be fittlers last game in charge.

He could pick anyone but it changes nothing.

Oust Alexander, Mary and Fittler.

Bring in someone who’ll actually pick on form. Otherwise just let us choose the sides. NSW fans on LU know what’s up.
