QLD won 8 in a row picking players in form, from winning clubs.

NSW picks players who are the flavour of the weeks and lose

Ok lets look at selections this year.

In game 1, NSW picked 10 players from teams that were in the top 8 at the time (6 from 1 team). QLD picked 9. QLD won

In game 2, NSW picked 11 players from teams that were in the top 8 at the time (5 from 1 team). QLD picked 6. QLD won

In game 3, NSW have picked 11 players from teams that are currently in the top 8. QLD picked 5.

Maybe picking inferior players from winning clubs isn't quite working like you think it should.

QLD are picking the best players, no matter what club they play for. NSW are picking players based on the club they play for.

It ain't hindsight. Before game 2 mostly everyone wanted Murray and Martin to start after game 1. Crichton and To'o always play we'll together. Young did nothing in game 1. Everyone questioned the Stefano call. And basically everyone wanted Murray at center and Cook at hooker. Some of Freddy's calls were shocking

When has Crichton ever played well in origin? He's been shown to be out of his depth in every game he's played.

Critchon played well in game 1. He was on the left side with To'o. Game 2 he wasn't terrible but he played what was in front of him and did ok. No one in that nsw team looked good in game 2. Saying he was out of his depth is a bit much.

He should perform when it matters eg Game 3 last year or Game 1 this year.

He’s a great club player who’s struggled at Origin level. It’s pretty simple.

Well not that simple, People expect him to be a 7 to take the game on individually which he doesn't do at club level. So why would he be any different in Origin.

He is great at following a game plan and allowing team members to do their thing, hence not over ruling Teddy when NSW spread it in Game 1.

Game 3 last year

148m run, 1 forced drop out and a try assist. Hardly a terrible game. Tbh matches his output most Penrith games, running is his strength

More run metres then any forward on NSW, which is part of why they lost.

Throw in Murray getting knocked out in the 1st minute into Talakai having a shocker.

Moses is 0-2
Walker is 1-4

Playing across the same period,

Game 2 this year the attack was horrible as it was in Game 3 2021.

That isn't on Moses just us NSW losing isn't on Cleary. Teddy being a hog and ruining the attack is most of the issue

He made that break. There was 12 QLD chasing and 0 NSW players. That is the stuff missing in NSW that chopping and changing the side doesn't fix

Only one nsw player chasing was his mate Brian To'o. All the others stood still and watched it happen. Team chemistry is low and Freddy chopping and changing ain't helping one bit

As an aside people are kidding themselves if they thought Freddy was going to drop Tedesco for a dead rubber game in NSW, lol. It will (should) be his last game for NSW. He's earned a farewell.
I'll give him a day 5 Lords longroom send off, bone coat and all.

Did he do anything other than tap the ball forward for 5 handling errors, and fall over for a try in game 1?

That's the problem with having a core from the same teams. You have to chop and change everyone else rather than admit that the core is the problem.

We should be more like QLD and pick the best players even if they are from teams at the bottom of the table. We had almost as many Penrith players as they had players from all top 8 sides combined and got flogged by 26 points.

I love when they bring up his "5 errors" but if you actually watch the games a few of those errors were towards the end of the game when he was trying to create something because time was running out and the other was a bad pass that he tried to flick over to To'o. Stop looking at stats and watch the games

Notice how I said "tap the ball forward"? That would indicate I'm suggesting his errors were from tapping the ball forward, so yes I know how his errors came about. I'll even go further and say 2 were from kick offs, 1 was from an attacking kick, and the other 2 were from him throwing the ball over the sideline. Is that watching enough games for you?

Yep and players like TPJ, Talakai who aren't suited to Origin
