Not just that. What other centres have been killing it?
Crighton and Lomax have been ordinary. Staggs been ok but I don't feel exceptional.
Who's form warrants it? What centres are pushing? Penisini on form might be closest to the best form centre available for NSW.

Penisini definitely deserves a spot.

He won't get it.

Trbojevic is a gun - he's also made of paper, and hasn't had a strong 2023.

Penisini issue right now is he is still capable of a brain fart and forcing a pass.
What other centres are in the fram for NSW? Ramien?

Hynes has to be there. Luai is overated

Tedesco has been NSW most consistent performer over the last few years. Plus he’s the captain. He deserves his spot. Edwards is shit under the high ball too. Tedesco is very safe.

But my gripe is - if there was a player who was performing better than Tedesco this year, he wouldn't get a look in, because Tedesco is the incumbent, and the captain.

Fair enough - he's playing well, and is the skipper.

But why is Jake Trbojevic an automatic inclusion? I like him as a player, but his form in 2023 is average.

To me, you need to create an environment where if you play well enough, you can get selected.

In some positions, it's not an option.

And then certain incumbents get dropped - why is Addo-Carr dropped, and unable to get back into the team?

I think a balance needs to be struck between incumbency, and form players.

But obviously, that's my opinion, and plenty don't share it - and that's OK.

But it's why I don't care about rep footy.

I’m a huge fan of his but Penisini is no where near ready for origin.

No. But what I am saying is what centres are playing so well they should push Turbo or Latrell out? Not to many have been in form this year that would of been an option.

Latrell and Tommy are the best centres NSW can pick.Campbell Graham is going well but still doesn’t have that X factor. Graham, Staggs, Lomax, Talakai and Penisini are not as good as what Tommy and Latrell can produce at centre.

I’m agreeing with you. The Penisini comment was more directed at another post.

I think Penisini is a future origin player for sure. Would be great to see him brought into camp for the experience

I'd even think about 1 Edwards, 4 Tedesco... if we're wedded to having fullbacks playing centre and Teddy is lead incumbent/captain and has to stay this year.

I think Latrell is a pretty shit fullback in terms of general play and defence - I wouldn't call him a (traditional/rep) fullback, even though that's where Souths have him play.

Penisini may be a future origina player, but I agree not this or next year.

The thing Qld do better than us is rotate in some alternative players, one at a time when there's an opportunity (through incumbent injury etc), developing their exposure to that level alongside experience, so the sense of generational change isn't so drastic when it happens.

I reckon his D is equal to Michael Jennings already. But he has a lot of work to do in his attack to ever play origin.

For his age his d is excellent, but no f**king way it's Mennings level.

Not quite Jennings level. Maybe one on one he is definitely strong.

But I think he still struggles at times with some reads hence why that side most games concede a try.

It's not all his fault the fact BA keeps chopping and changing around him hasn't helped either.

I hope he doesn't piss off rugby he could be a elite centre when he reaches 22-23 years of age for the next 6-7 years.

If Turbo was fit and firing, I wouldn't have Teddy in the squad, his best days are past him and he's getting most his tackle breaks these days running sideways and pushing off defenders.

He'll be picked, but this should be his last year. Time for him to call it quits.
