I can’t see any sporting event topping that number unless the Socceroos make a similar run in the men’s WC. NRL and AFL have no events that can reach that, even if the Wallabies made the 2027 RWC final at home I doubt it’ll get that number

Thanks.

So 25% of Perth watched the game.

Still great ratings but that is the thing IF people who have the boxes. Don't like sport or prefer News over there... Hell even are still at work then makes it hard to get huge numbers

Same to all the Live sites, packed pubs etc do nothing for ratings

Has to be in the same timezone. That is what all the big events have in common

Yep and how did it rate in Perth?

You are still only talking 1/3 of the countries population watched it offically
7 million people managed to walk to their tv and use the remote and push in the number seven

4 million more than origin

Yes because of who was playing.

Take Perth.

the captain of the country is from Perth

Lots of poms over there

Compare that to a niche sport between NSW and QLD. You expect the same buy in?

What does that have to do with it?

Take Perth. The game starts at 6pm on a Wednesday.

There is no way everyone with a ratings box will be home for 1.

2nd some will prefer the News.

That affects the ratings, Not how many people are at the pubs watching it.

That is why ratings are limited with how high they can get

This guy who called me a wanker, also said ratings for Matilda's couldn't get higher.

Won't admit I was right & he was wrong I bet!?

I'm curious to see what the ratings will be for the Bronze & Gold medal games. The Gold game might be a more realistic indication of what the core base soccer has here once the bandwagoners jump off. It's still a big event of course. It's not every day you host a world cup final in your country. But most of those people watching will be doing so for the love of the game, not just for the sake of being seen to be part of the hip crowd.

I felt like the event needed the Matildas to be successful at home by going deep into the tournament. Whereas with the men's version on home soil, Socceroos could be knocked out in the group stages, and yet people would still follow it regardless.

Put simply, the women's game is still fledgling by comparison.

Still competing with origin level event in terms of ratings (3rd place playoff) last night.
Sure but afl are getting over a million for their game when we’re at 800k

we haven’t topped a million for ages

soccer was on sat and Sun doesn’t clash with many rl games
