Thats what a Perth team would getIf we had 100k active fans in Perth or Adelaide would you be dissapointed? I wouldnt!

We wouldn't be claiming our code was soon to take over either. If we had 100k active fans in Perth or Adelaide would you be dissapointed? I wouldnt!
Unlikely, at least to start. It'll be around 15-16k attending and FTA, well depends if it stays buried by Ch9. Probably 50k-60k together in reality. Adelaide half that.Thats what a Perth team would get
He was saying in context of participation rates, but even that is ridiculous. Mind you if our leaders were saying we want to take over in AFL states instead of calling them a waste of money I wouldn't be too unhappy, no matter if it was BS!We wouldn't be claiming our code was soon to take over either.
Interesting that a code that has so much income still needs to screw over a dedicated fumbling state like Tassie for a every last cent they can drain from it
and is too inept to run an effective investigation into serious racist allegations against two of its highest profile coaches? Interesting indeed.
@Perth Red same applies for png doesn’t itThe AFL has said repeatedly that it doesnt believe a team is viable for nearly 40 years. The only thing making this viable to the league was the Government offering to put up its own cash and offer a decent stadium operation. The league didnt want the team, Tasmania had to convince them to take it.
Thats the cold truth.
It would be like the WA Government demanding a team in the NRL against the NRLs wishes because the NRL didnt want the risk, and the WA Government putting up millions a year and a great stadium deal in order to get the team done - which is more than likely how this happens there too.
Im not a fan of internal investigations - Im not a fan of Leagues intervening in matters covered by civil or criminal law (I dont support the NRLs No fault suspension thing either). If this was serious it should have gone straight to the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commissioner or to court.
100% agree on both. I don’t blame the afl for the stadium at all. It’s our silly premier with his green sleeveless shirt and sherrin under his arm who is the problem. This will bring down his government as he is not listening to the people . Neither the stadium nor the investigation make any sense. The AFL has said repeatedly that it doesnt believe a team is viable for nearly 40 years. Is that some sort of fumbleball reference that I don`t get ?Double post
One point! Is that some sort of fumbleball reference that I don`t get ?
Difference is when the tassie govt money runs out they've got a reasonable chance of being viable. When the PNG Govt money runs out .......@Perth Red same applies for png doesn’t it

I’m confident a png nrl team would generate significant corporate sponsorship plus have the png govt backing them as wellThere is 10m people in PNG, national game in PNG is RL.
Tassie has 500k.
PNG could easily sort out half of the 25m required.
That leaves 13m for the NRL to shoulder.
NRL made 100m+ profit the last couple years.
No problem at all.
+ with 20 years of funding from Feds there is every chance PNG will breaks even in that time.
And you are the one who is upPVL for saying outlandish things .He was saying in context of participation rates, but even that is ridiculous. Mind you if our leaders were saying we want to take over in AFL states instead of calling them a waste of money I wouldn't be too unhappy, no matter if it was BS!
Depends .If we had 100k active fans in Perth or Adelaide would you be dissapointed? I wouldnt!
And you are the one who is upPVL for saying outlandish things .
now you are alright with that .
lol just lol .
which would be great if the country wasn't in severe poverty. How exactly would they raise $15-20mill a year? And what makes you think the Govt is going to hand over, up front in case of change of govt, $400mill for a PNG team? There is 10m people in PNG, national game in PNG is RL.

RL already has a ready made venue.
In 20 year that venue capacity of 15k will more than likely increase to 25k.
''When the PNG Govt money runs out'' not when they have natuaral resources, its why china wants closer relations.

I`m no fan of a P.N.G. team but I thought this has been discussed before and argued by you IIRC, it doesn`t matter where the extra team comes from, it`s the extra game that counts. And if they are successful even better.how do you feel the other clubs will react to adding another team that adds zero value to the Australian tv revenue?
There’s value in a number of ways for tvI`m no fan of a P.N.G. team but I thought this has been discussed before and argued by you IIRC, it doesn`t matter where the extra team comes from, it`s the extra game that counts. And if they are successful even better.
Just like I think it was you who said, most Dolphins` fans will have been watching NRL before the Dolphins came in, now they just watch one extra game.
You really are a miserable negative old turdThere’s value in a number of ways for tv
1. yes a ninth game has value in its own right as extra content regardless of club 18
2. Some locations will be more valuable to tv than others, large population, metro ratings, new viewer growth, time zone etc
3. more clubs and viewers in australia make advertising spots more attractive for Australian fta
4. More viewers in australia means more subscribers for ptv
reality is png or nz2 have very little value beyond point 1 to Australian tv.
