If theres a new team, they'd definitely renegotiate
That’s the point though, to get the new team before 2028 they’d need to renogtiate this deal. Would tv be happy to renegotiate, and if they were would they expect more than just the ninth game, ie and extension Like last time?

@BlueandGold 's table on the last page

Had Fox paying $227m cash for AFL this year.

NRL is $400m cash. We know ch9 is $115m

That leaves $285m that Fox/Sky are paying.
even taking out the Sky money

Fox are paying more for NRL currently and that is rip off?

Less content, less advertising sponsor on board and higher is bad?
Err no it’s $402mill total
$32mill sky nz
$130mill ch9
$240mill fox

beyond ch9 $15mill contra we don’t know what the other two deals cash/contra spit is.

As the number one watched sport on tv we are getting totally dudded.
Nrl needs to go to twenty clubs with perth and Adelaide to give the full 5 metro reach, ten games a weekend, open tender process. brisbane3 for even more value
Then we’ll finally become the most valuable tv sport in the country and get the revenue we deserve

Those numbers for the Broncos v Dolphins match are just huge. The NRL need to use this as leverage and introduce a new team from Perth in the 2025 or 2026 season. Start the competitive tension now but use the AFL negotiating tactic of not fighting with Fox but just letting them know that all offers will be considered and remind them that subscribers is where they make their coin in a weak advertising market.

There should also be a subtle reminder that without subscribers for the NRL the Kayo and Fox business models fall in a screaming heap and that their number 1 rating product (NRL) will no longer accept less than their number 2 rating product (AFL).

terrific Saturday ratings on fox. Murdered the fumblers yet again
NSW Cup game got almost as much as the lowest rating fumbleball game 54 000 vs. 77 000.
Meanwhile over on FTA no sign of a Sua`alii bump in the union ratings.
In fact, no sign of union at all. So probably well less than 60k again.
BTW I had a look at it at half time in the League, they were creaming their pants about Sua`alii while the play laboured on.

Thought the election might have a small impact on the NRL in Sydney but it didn’t really. Super strong ratings for south’s v manly.

Also the quality of footy this year is as good as it’s been since, well, I don’t know when. If the quality and competitiveness remains this high the ratings are going to be incredible this year.

Crazy that NSW cup might be outraging super rugby. I think they’re really hoping the WC is a game changer because right now the sport looks like it’s in its death throes.

It’s his guess work. but cash wise looks on the mark. Afl announce 2025 deal was “over” $4bill cash.
Accountancy rules changed at time of last deal where they add a small % each year (think it was 2-3% each year from memory) to tv deal revenue, hence why it starts lower than “avg amount“ announced and ends above it.

Again though NRL deal would be the same. $400m cash in 2023 would be just under $500m in 2031.

Although NRL will have talks before then for 2028 at the latest. The margin will be small and in which case the NRL deal isn't that bad afterall

You really do talk some shit, You need to get Gill's dick out of your mouth and do the maths

At $260m cash ( because AFR isn't full of shit like yo are paying $15,776 a minute for NRL

AFL is 25,920 mins a year

Even if AFL is getting $350m cash from Fox ( which is too high)

that still leaves them at $13,891 a minute.

That is without the women's comps include or the extra advertising that AFL brings into Fox

This is the ratings thread can’t y’all take this repetitive argument elsewhere. Let’s be honest neither PR or any of you arguing actually know the exact figures and no one is going to budge on their opinion. So what’s the point in going around and around and around in every other thread?

yeah hes using last years streaming ratio for his estimate - but it could still be right, theres just no data past round 1 yet to update estimates, probably wont be until after magic round unless theres an official release from Fox or the NRL or rothfield posts it.

He hasnt got BVOD figures in there either.

Based on the data we have at present ive estimated it at just under 300k for streaming.
