Eh? You seem to be mixing up accounting systems with inflation. tv deals are not really effected by inflation, they are effected by competition largely and then other stuff like content and value. Or are you saying afls $366mill to $550mill increase was due to inflation? Lol
Yes they are you dope

300 million now needs to be adjusted for inflation over the life of the contact to maintain its real purchasing power

I am not the one claiming the NRL will struggle to get a rise of 20m a year from our next broadcast deal.

Perth red is way off the mark.
Eh? Never said that, I said they’d struggle to get $20mill for 12 more games in this current deal.

Next deal value will be totally dependent on who bids. If no one bids against ch9/fox then I expect it to be around $50mill more than the current $402mill. If there’s competition I expect it to be anywhere between $500-600mill going off what afl just experienced.

Haha you still don’t understand it, that’s not how it works. The sport annnounces the deal and the ‘avg’ of the deal over the life of the deal duration. In real terms this gets paid at around 2-3% a year increase each year from a lower than avg amount to end up at higher than avg amount. overall we still have the avg lol.

in total deal value they have no relationship to inflation from one deal to the next. Ch9 are paying 0% increase. Skynz are paying 50% more. Fox (allegedly) around 10% more. None of that is reflective of inflation rate since 2017!

so if you take our cash deal of $382mill over 5 years.
in 2025 the actual will be $382mill.
Take off 2-3% each year for 2024&23.
add on 2-3% each year from that $382mill for 26&27
And that’s the actuals the nrl accounts for in its revenue.

If the tv deal doesn’t match inflation increases players living standards fall.

do you want me to explain to you what inflation means

just matching a rise in cpi isn’t really an increase in the tv deal at all

the tv deal should rise by the rise in nominal gdp over the life of the contract as a general guide (nominal isn’t the figures published in the paper it’s real gdp plus inflation)

You’re the smart ass who commented about ratings and was proven to be absolutely 100% wrong.

I feel dirty saying this and definitely will regret this but I don’t mind Perth red

he’s actually intelligent the problem is he uses it to bend arguments to his little agenda

he has a view of the nrl and when the game doesn’t fit that view he just desthrides the bits he doesn’t like

if he had more experience of the game before and during super league he wouldn’t be such a dope but that can’t be helped

Ain't it a pleasant change from the past ,crowds seemingly stalled, too many lopsided games, the bunker being the weekend issue, and Tv ratings at times meh.
Wookie's up to date well researched stats are a welcome addition to these forums.
The decision to include the Dolphins has ended up being a masterstroke.
Yep. The Dolphins have left egg on a few NRL CEO faces who opposed the addition of a new team.

More big numbers last night for the NRL
down a bit on FTA from the night before but .. up on PTV, meaning a similar figure of around 1.25 mill to 1.3 mill

slaughtered the gatherers
they wouldn't have got to a mill

GWS and GCS was worth 50m a year to the AFL.

The Dolphins are bigger than both and the ratings for the Dolphins dwarf both.

20m a year extra is being conservative.

By the way you seem to be under the impression networks pay for expansion teams before they know what value they bring to the table....

NRL was not paid for Dolphins, that comes next broadcasts deal.

Especially without the 9th game, The deal allows the game to expand but the true value comes with the next side

Fox ratings are up over around 25%

250m current Fox contract.

300m will be next contract from Fox league alone now add in inflation of 7% over 5 years.

Yeah give up now.

Your predictions are way out.

Good luck. I have tried to explain to him inflation of both deals. Still he pedals the same shit

Really is that simple. X player signs $1m deal over 3 years. Year 3 pays more then year 1.

Same with all similar contracts
