No one has confidently put any name in front of Luai. Moses/Hynes/Walker/Cogger are not in front they are just options.

So the idea that Luai is unlikely to be selected isn't making much sense to me.

Yeah but don’t think anyway is saying he’s unlikely, just that he’s not more likely at this stage then 2 or 3 others, at least that is what I think. Of course Luai is a fair chance, but so are the others if they are in good form. I that will will be the main factor.

After some thought:

Dylan Edwards
Brian To’o
Izack Tago
Taylan May
Sunia Turuva

Jerome Luai
Nathan Cleary

Moses Leota
Mitch Kenny
James Fisher-Harris
Liam Martin
Zak Hosking
Isaiah Yeo

Luke Sommerton
Scott Sorensen
Lindsay Smith
Luke Garner
18. Tyrone Peachy

——-

Daine Laurie covers fullback and 5’8. - will be battling 14 spot with Sommerton. Depends on game plan. Better 5’8 than fullback imo and if it is 5’8 and Luai leaves, Laurie and Cole need to start getting reps in.

Isaiah Iongi can cover fullback, wing and center - best of the bunch in yet to play nrl. This kid is really really good, potential to have work rate of Edwards with skills of Critta. Might get a game this season later in the year I’d imagine.

Jesse McLean covers center and wing. - similar build and style to early Critta but maybe a season or so off from being there in first grade - should get a few games this season though.

Taylan May can shift from center to wing should it not work out. - played some center in juniors, should transition ok but no one should expect a Critta replacement here.

Paul Alamoti covers center but also “reportedly” beefing up and adding explosive running to be a Spencer Leniu type impact bench player. - could be anything if moulded properly. Too slow and cumbersome to remain center but has junior reps there. But he has higher a ceiling due to is frame and size to be an good impact forward.

Jack Cole covers center and 5’8. - needs to get reps in one position ideally 5’8 long term. If Luai does leave, Panthers need to start thinking of the future and Cole/Laurie should get game time this coming season. I’d imagine Cole gets 3-4 games at least?

Brad Schneider covers halves spots. - excited, always thought higher ceiling than Sean O'Sullivan and Jack Cogger.

Soni Luke and Ryly Smith cover hooker. - Sommerton has leaped frogged Luke now, Smith will leap frog Luke this season too by final H&A rounds imo. Luke would ideally need an amazing off season with spine players to get back to guaranteed 14 spot imo.

Luke Garner can cover center, 2nd row and bench. - only to center if injuries or Crittas replacements aren’t working out by mid season.

Tyrone Peachy covers center or 14. - as per normal.

Scott Sorensen becomes bench impact in early rounds to cover immediate impact of losing Spencer Leniu. Eventually goes back to starting once Lisati or Alamoti gain reps to be able to do the impact bench role. - biggest hole to fill for overall team dynamics.

Riley Price, Mavrik Geyer & Harrison Hasset cover 2nd row. - very green here. It’ll be Geyer into Price into Hasset in order of who gets first crack I would imagine but depends how off season goes - anyone can leapfrog the others if they show they are hungrier.

Liam Henry, Ativalu Lisati, Matt Eisenhuth cover prop. - mix of green and some experience. Probably are a prop short, someone who toils. Hence Panthers going for Tom Eisenhuth for squad depth. Henry is next cab off the rank here you would imagine. Lisati is closest Panthers have to Leniu, but gasses quickly. Eisenhuth is also the only back up lock in squad, does serviceable job though everytime he comes onto nrl side. I guess Fish and Leota not playing origin is a blessing for the depth reason alone.

lol, same article, different headline. At least the NRL.com one makes sense. The other one is gibberish.
