Aussies are only friends with Kiwis when we are fighting for Freedom. Aussies need to get out of this on there own. Poms want it more simple as that IMO.

Not true, out of friendship we sell you our sheep.

Think about that next time the gravy runs down your chin ;)

That was hard viewing today, our bowlers weren't great today but the fact of the matter they should not have been bowling most of today. Due to the pathetic performance of the batsman we are up sh*t creek again. Surely it is time for somebody in Australian cricket to make some hard decisions???

And Batman you try far to hard buddy, quite sad you are living off the Poms beating us champ.

Simply Batman Returns is one of those idiots who would prefer to see an opposition team lose than see his own team win.

Pitiful and pathetic

He enjoys seeing us fail because as a Kiwi he has never witnessed his own nation dish it out to us when it matters. The 0-0 draw they had out here in the tests they regard the same way we do with Bradman's famous Invincibles.

This team may be able to re-take the Ashes.

1. B McCullum
2. S Watson
3. R Taylor
4. J Ryder
5. M Hussey
6. K Williamson
7. B Haddin (wk)
8. D Vettori (c)
9. T Southee
10. P Siddle
11. C Martin

The only Kiwis who would make an Aussie team right now are Ryder and Vettori- and Vettori only just because Australia doesn't really have a spinner

This ANZAC test side - selected by a panel of experts from the best players available - would be a reasonable side. This may seem harsh on some seemingly worthy candidates - such as James Franklin, Tim MacIntosh,
Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, BJ Watling and Mitchell Johnson -
but in the end they were not selected due to a lack of form.

1. B McCullum
2. S Watson
3. R Taylor
4. J Ryder
5. M Hussey
6. K Williamson
7. B Haddin (wk)
8. D Vettori (c)
9. T Southee
10. P Siddle
11. C Martin

Says a lot about the state of Australian cricket, that mi-way through the test a little jibe from someone results in a couple of pages of sheep jokes and "we're still better than NZ" comments...

And for the record, it's ACT that beatiality is not illegal in - just ask Joel Monaghan!

2nd day at Adelaide is probably the best batting conditions in Australia, we should have been still batting instead of the poms

Definitely - Australia are ranked #5 though, and have had relatively tight series with Windies and Pakis... despite all the bravado from players, and people in this forum... the reality is Aust is ranked #5 because the team cannot score runs consistently, nor can they take wickets reliably... a good team, and England look to be a good team, will make you pay for that... and they are!

As i have stated before the only people that thought Australia were doing well last year against the Windies and Paki's were the Aussie team, selectors, coach and of course Skeepe. And none of them have a clue, some of us on here even said that win against the Paki's was a bad win because it papered oversome glaring cracks.

That stupid stupid katich run out was crucial. Had katich hanged around a while, which he has don so in bucket loads on worse wickets. Shine goes of the ball. We get a big score. Its as simple as that

Having said that, the glory of test cricket. we can get bagged pillar to post, but we havent lost this test nor the series yet. Its still road to bat on. We have got ourselves in this position BUT theres nothign to suggest we wont bat well over 5 sessions in the 2nd dig.

We didn't take our chances yesterday although we didn't create that many. My goodness it's nothing like the days of watching Pidge & Dizzy steam in and know if a catch is grassed you won't be waiting another 150 runs for another chance!!

Oh you're such a youngun. God bless. The 1985 series win over Australia we treasure mostly for Hadlee's 9 for. The 1986 series win over Australia was pleasant too but NZ would consider "Bradmans invincibles" if we really cared about beating Australia). But the thing in the 80's NZ is most proud of is the fact the Windies could not beat us at home. Unlike you guys ;) 1990 NZ gutted Australia. '93-94 1-1 was pretty good too. ;)

I know some of you have been more realistic... but there have still been comments from people like Hussey saying "we're better than 5th"... which seem pretty delusional really, and although he's batting well at the moment, only a team ranked 5th would continue to pick someone in the middle order averaging a tick over 30...

and many of you here have said that you'd be ranked higher if the selectors picked your young stars... but, first they are unproven in tests, that attitude is based on the depth you had 10 years ago... the golden era is over, your team is serviceable, and Hughes, Smith and Khwaja (exc spelling) won't change that (and don't seem likely to be picked in the forseeable future...) And, those 3 are bats - anyone who thinks Smith is going to suddenly transform into Shane Warne is also deluding themseleves... in the long term he might turn out good as a leggie - but at the moment he'll likley do a similar job to Doherty and Hauritz (albeit - more wickets [well, the odd wicket] and more expensive)

I honestly don't believe there's that much between England and Australia.

The truth is, England took their chances when they were on offer, Australia didn't and allowed England to settle on a batters paradise.

I reckon if Watson and Katich had of communicated better the entire complexion of this test match would be utterly different.

His performance in the whole series

33 wickets in 3 tests - still features highly on any list of most wickets in a series... imagine if they'd given us 5 tests :D

average 12.15... 5 5 wicket hauls :)crazy:) 2 10 wicket hauls... gives a whole new meaning to ownership...

Lets not forget the services of the other opening bowler in the second test - Martin Crowe...

But yeah Hadlees record in that series edges out Bond's ODI record against Australia :p

70 odd runs and 8 wickets.

I think if England does not win this test - their confidence may deflate and they could be in trouble for the rest of the series. Stats suggest that sooner or later Kat,Watto and Ponting are gonna score BIG. Next game or game after I can see Aus scoring 500/600 in the first innings.

If htey win this test - I think its good night for the Ashes.

Agreed.

If Australia don't do anything with this new ball, I honestly can't see Australia surviving 2+ days with the bat.
