People say the strangest things. Mark Waugh scored over 8000 test runs with 20 centuries. Hardly a waste of talent.

Mark Waugh got this reputation because he made batting look easy and didn't seem to have the Border or Steve Waugh "grind" about his game. He also seemed to get out after getting to his 100, but he's still one of the finest players of that generation.

Now you would call someone like Carl Hooper a waste of raw talent.

He's looking completely non-threatening with the ball, doesn't get a whole lot of turn. Stuff the 98, that's not his job.

You may say he's only 19, well the place to learn is in the Shield not in internationals. Lyon was doing a perfectly decent job, and I'd recall him for the next test barring a flurry of wickets from Agar.
