And too many loose deliveries from Lyon as well Twiz.

Its because of his lack of variation & excessive loose deliveries that prevents him from building pressure and taking wickets

Gee Lyon has been disappointing.

Its not just the fact that he cant get a bagful on this pitch, I was watching him bowl yesterday and every ball is the same pace and every ball is an offie.

Never once saw him bowl with any variation in pace or turn, no toppies or arm balls.

He is way too predictable atm.

That was always my fear, there was always a chance that by the time we got to Melbourne they'd have him figured out. Luckily it looks like we will be 2 games up by then at least.

Highlight of the game so far: Monty Panesar giving Clarke a Johnsonesque send off with match bowling figures at the time of 2/160.

Saw this yesterday and it gave me a chuckle.

Wonder what happened to Jeff?

He just bowled too much rubbish. When he got it in the right areas his stock ball was still bouncing up around their chests even on this docile pitch. He still got the big wicket of Root before he could do too much damage.

I don't think Lyon is doing to badly, it looks like Clarkey and the Aussies had the plan to get at England with fast bowling, which has worked a treat.
It looks like Lyon has been told to just hold up and end, and bowl a consistent line to get the batters frustrated and then the pace attack gets them.

I agree but still thought he bowled poorly. Too leg side especially when he is ripping them. That is 1 innings out of 4 he has bowled poorly though and could still come out today and help clean up the tail. Still been far better than Swann so far.

Lyon was great at the Gabba and pretty good in the first innings but bowlers rubbish yesterday.

Way to many 4 balls and not enough in the right area's.

I am staggered at how shit the Poms have been... Broad aside...

Despite still being smashed, there are some signes of life, Bell clearly in great touch, Root showing he's the real deal, Pieterson looked keen for runs, and some signs that Matt Prior has returned...

Weather app saying 60% chance of rain up till 2pm, but the TAB still has the draw at $7.50 and us at $1.09.

f**king rain.

The forecast seems to suggest it will clear up through the morning. I think we'll still get more than enough play to knock them over. Batting in overcast conditions is generally trickier.

Well done to Clarke on the "early" declaration.

You don't recognise the welsh part of the England & Wales cricket board?

I don't wish to be impolite, or come across as too aggressive; seriously?

Where is the W in ECB?

Besides, even before it became the England & Wales Cricket Board I wanted Welshies to do well when playing for the Poms, but didn't want them to win the Ashes, or any other series.

And there seems to be an increasing number of Poms moving into Wales which isn't helping. More than that it's the type of Poms who are moving in too. Hardly increasing the average IQ.
