You'd have to say there's enough doubt to say it's more likely he's home than not, tight as though holy shit

Those who thought this series was over after Adelaide are way off the mark..

India were on top for the majority of the last test in Adelaide until the biblical collapse in the 2nd dig. Australia’s 1st innings wasn’t something to write home about, and without Paine’s 70 odd it could have been embarrassing.

Now we are in another innings hole.. 2 tests in a row.

Our openers are brutally out of form / unfamiliar to the role.
Labuschagne is scrapping
Smith is off the boil
Head is fits and starts
Green is brand new

Of all these, Paine has been the rock. All be it for one innings but he needs to be again today.

India are well on top here. That 36 in Adelaide masked a lot of issues we have with the bat.
Fair... but India have their own issues

Smith will be ok, and Warner and Pucovski potentially solve issues

Paine really has been tremendous in many ways

Kerry gets less and less funny every game.

Which is a feat for a man who has never been funny

Paine has, absolutely. I couldn’t believe the chat that he needs to score more runs.. he’s got the 2nd highest batting average of any Australian Keeper behind Gilly. He needs wins, not runs to stay in the top job for mine. He dragged our innings out of a bog in Adelaide.

Warner will add a lot, and surely Smith will come back. Just shows how much we miss them when they were out. When they aren’t scoring runs we are vulnerable against a good bowling attack.

wasn't it Bill Lawry who used to say never hook to get off the mark ?

Well that just drives home how obsolete the idea is :p

To be fair Bill probably couldn't see past his nose once the ball got around face height.

Everyone is vulnerable against quality attacks, that’s why you’re #1

Not sure there’s data on this but in recent years there seem to have been more monumental collapses from many teams... perhaps not many are good at dialling back and grinding
