I don't like agreeing with Evenflow but it's time to get another Victorian into the team.

I don't have a problem with a Victorian in the side, as long as it's not Cameron Shite. One of the most overrated players to ever wear the baggy green. I still can't believe he was our first choice spinner in the 2008 tour of India (I guess you can definitely thank Merv Hughes for this). His batting has really gone to the crapper over the past 12 months, especially in the Big Bash League. And to think how sickening it was when James Brayshaw et al. in the commentary used to shoot his load over him, saying "Oh, Cameron White. He's a fantastic Victorian, the way all Victorians are" etc. etc. Even Bill Lawry, as a Victorian himself, isn't that nauseating. Funny how his nickname is "The Bear". Well, I guess he is the bear that runs back into the woods because he gets out for low scores (in a similar mould to Shaun "the wild, or shall I say, WEAK thing" Tait, who said that bowling 10 overs in an ODI was too much).

Not sure why people are bagging the declaration around the place....I was calling for it as soon as he reached 300 tbh. If India have no sniff at all, they'll just shut up shop and slow the game down. Makes it harder to get them out, especially on a pitch that is suiting them more and more as the game goes on.

Except no Cummins.,...

Yes, it's controversial. There's many contenders for positions #10 and #11 out of Siddle, Hilfenhaus, Harris, Starc, Copeland, Hazelwood, Cutting and Cummins. Any two from that list I'd be happy with to join O'Keefe and Pattinson as the tailenders. With Siddle and Hilfenhaus doing the job at the moment, it's going to be very hard to shaft both of them now that they're bowling a hell of a lot better than 12 months ago since they aren't bowling in tandem with Johnson.

Cummins is still only 18 yrs old, and he has time on his side (compared to Harris who has outstanding stats, but is injury-prone and 32). I have no doubt that if he remains relatively injury free, Cummins will go down as one of Australia's best fast bowlers when he retires. This recent injury to him is a warning sign to him though; he needs to build up his fitness levels to be able to sustain his form in the 5-day form of the game if he doesn't want to end up like Jason Gillespie - someone with lots of talent, but breaking down all the time. I was very impressed when I first saw him in the T20 Big Bash last year, bowling up to 150km/h for a then-17 year old.

I remember when I was in high school. I had a friend who was then friends with Moises Henriques (about 6-7 yrs ago. I think they played in the same Sydney grade side on the weekends, although my friend went to Gosford High with me). It was because of Moises that my friend got to meet Michael Clarke (who was new to the Aussie side back then) at a hotel in Sydney, had lunch with him, got his autographed bat etc. and then he wanked on about this whole encounter one lunchtime infront of a whole group of classmates after an HSC assessment task) and he used to shoot his load over Moises regularly in conversation, and speak like Moises was the next Glenn McGrath, how he won the Ricky Ponting scholarship, could bowl 140km/h (although 130km/h or so was the fastest I saw him bowl in the Ford Ranger Cup) toured with the Australian U/18 side etc. etc. He spoke about Moises the way most of the fanatical Indians speak about Tendulkar. Anyways, I finally saw Moises play in numerous Ford Ranger Cup matches a couple of years later when I moved down to Sydney, saw the games on tv when he played in the India/Australia ODI series in 2009 and to be honest with you, I saw absolutely nothing special about him. Also, couldn't understand why ppl like Mark Waugh also kept wrapping him in commentary (maybe someone can explain this for me). However, when I saw Cummins bowl for the first time, I knew that he was definitely going to wear the baggy green one day and to my surprise, it came a hell of a lot earlier than I thought during the 2nd test vs South Africa last year. Cummins has the X-factor; Henriques is your typical, generic cricketer who will boast that they played a game or so at international level (albeit in lucky circumstances), but will spend 99% of their career at Sydney club cricket and will be in and out of the state team before they eventually struggle to hold their place in the state team and will be out for good.

India still need another 354 runs to force Australia to bat again. Even if they do bat out the 90 overs tomorrow, I highly doubt they will clear off this deficit by stumps tomorrow. I know ppl will say that Australia scored 366 runs on day 2, but that was when Australia wasn't under any pressure, India's bowling was crap, and Australia were aiming to get as much of a lead as they could before the declaration (not to mention they were batting on a day 2/3 pitch). However, India will be batting to SAVE the match on a day 4 and possibly day 5 pitch, which, like a traditional SCG test pitch, will have a lot more wear and tear than when Australia was batting on it. After close calls to Tendulkar and Ghambir in the last few overs, India knows they dodged a couple of bullets and will subsequently not want to take any risks with 8 wickets in hand, as they are aware from the MCG test that one wicket can easily lead to 3-4 quick wickets.

Seriously do you know how often any test side has batted for more than 190 overs in the 3rd or 4th innings? (actually no one has ever done it in the 4th). Out of 3293 innings it has happened 15 times. Only 6 over 200 overs. The extra time is simply not worth it. It doesn't matter a damn how India bat. If we bowl even half decently 190 overs is plenty.

Went up today, not a bad days play until India shut up shot. Gambhir and Dravid looked supurb for a while there. Pattinson bowled ok but seemed to be slightly down on pace compared to Melbourne.

Clarke and Hussey could've batted for two days. Dont think there was an appeal whilst they were out there. Declaration was the right call though, so far ahead and a couple of wickets tomorrow and it wont last too long I dont think

Members tickets for the cricket tomorrow :D

Poor bowling at the end IMO had to make them play more.

I thought they should have gone wild for 40 mins after Mr Cricket got his 150 but there may be rain about. That dropped catch better not cost us.

Did the Clarke catch bounce first or did he drop it?

Bounced just before it got to him I thought.

I agree, when it was clear they were leaving everything they could had to start putting it on the stumps, hope to jag the LBW/bowled

Hilfs ball to get Dravid was a peach

The screens are pretty poor so I couldn't tell but Clarke's reaction suggested a dropped but since it bounced I guess he was just desperate.

I Sat in the same spot for Easts v Saints in 2010 and same problem with the screen, poor angle in the Brewongle and the other is blurry.

How about the Gambhir LBW? I thought maybe he hit it

...and with the threat of rain there is no guarantee of 2 full days.

replays showed it didn't carry and yes he did hit the LBW appeal

India will bat all day today and most of tomorrow. They have the artillary, plus the deck is best for batting as match wears on. Plus we dont have the spin attack to say boo to India, a shame really

Match drawn folks, Bring on Perth

Cheers
