The NZ cricket fans know what I mean.

I know nothing.

It is amusing that this whole thing has been started by an Australian. Not really fussed TBH. It's a nice gesture to do it for sure, but I don't think it's something that should be mandatory out of fear of being called a bad sport.

Amazing how some find this to be such an issue. Isn't it the norm through all levels of sport the world over to play hard, fair and congratulate an opponent post match? If one feels like doing so during the game, fine, but there's certainly no obligation to do so nor should anyone's sportsmanship be judged on it.

I've never understood the point scoring obsession of the spirit of cricket brigade with who shook who's hand/who slapped who's arse and when, who's the nicest fellas on the field, or who gets the least excited when they do something they're supposed to get excited about.

It's Test Match cricket FFS, not backyard croquet. They're grown men playing in a professional match. Most of them are probably decent mates as well and do more than their fair share of congratulating when appropriate and probably out of our view, not necessarily during a change of bloody innings.

Yeah and an Aussie calls the Aussie bad sports and so Aussies call Kiwi whingers...go figure. Contrary to Haynetrain's usual shit, Taylor didn't seem all that bothered to miss out on the handshake and I didn't even notice it tbh. Non issue

btw- I saw that Southee was clocked bowling at 150.5. Wow. I guess that explains how Starc got up over 160...the radars in Perth are as good as the pitch

Ross Taylor said:
"I got out on the far side of the boundary and they were all congratulating him (fielder) and I was walking off as fast I could," Taylor said.

yeh, don't let the facts get in the way of a good whinge

I guess there really isn't much else to talk about, this test match has been a shambles for cricket, and they wonder why people wont turn up to test matches anymore.

Hell, even Voges made a ton.

Bring on the pink ball, anything has to be better than this.

Good to see Greatbatch weighing in on the 'horrendous sportsmanship'.

On his scale I shudder to think what he thinks of Cash for Cairns.

All bizarre, NZ'ers not the one's whining - it started with Nannes - Greatbatch is a f**ktard, and to be honest behaved in a very Australian way when he played

There's no issue here - and the series seems to have been played in a hard way in the right spirit - some wont like it, but that starts with us, and as in the World Cup final, win or lose if you act like a wanker while the opposition is nice, you just look like a wanker. This Australian team's been really good - all we need are decent wickets and a fit Boult

Batsmen's averages are being boosted, but they might as well play on concrete - I trust this is a draw, be terrible if the wicket suddenly crumbled, or we were able to chase something down at 6 an over - that would play into the hands of whoever is creating disgraceful wickets like this.

Australia must fancy themselves with a sporting declaration here...not that they really need to push for a win. I have no idea why people on here were so quick to write them off. A draw is always going to be the most likely event when two teams post 500+ in the first innings, but an NZ collapse is not out of the question if Starc gets going

I really dont see why Smith would want to give the Kiwis a sniff as we are already 1 up.

Fortunately for us we won the toss and this gives as an advantage to dictate terms so I am not sure why you would throw that advantage away especially on a pitch favoring the batsmen.

Not sure why we should give the Kiwi's anything?? A drawn test match is good enough for us we keep the trophy and can't lose the series. They still haven't bowled us out at all in an innings yet why should they be given a chance because of this disgraceful wicket???

Not sure all the fuss was about with Taylor?? Pretty sure the Aussies all clapped him when he reached his milestones and probably would of after play. This series has been played in a tough but fair spirit which is great. Just a shame the pitches have not been up to scratch.

1-0 up and a pitch that still seems to be playing really well, so barring a collapse this morning, you'd expect a declaration not awfully long after lunch maybe.

If we get Williamson & Taylor early and Starc gets in the zone we might be an outside chance of running through them this afternoon but it looks pretty doubtful. Hopefully Smiffy & Voges can keep going, we need at least another 120-150 runs I think.

We seem to beat our chests and say how we always play to win, now some want to just bat out a draw?? Hopefully Smithy wont have that mentality.

We are never gonna know if we don't declare. Kiwis have no chance of running down 320+ in 50 odd overs. But they may have a crack, have to play risky shots , wickets will fall. If they get the runs so be it, we go to Adelaide 1-1. Would be a great end to the test whoever won it. Isnt that what we want?

Id be disappointed if we didn't have a go

In 50 overs they have a hell of a lot more a chance then we do, if they lose some early wickets they can just shut up shop but if they get off to a flier they have a good chance on this road of a wicket.

yeah, nah...

if there's a result, then to a degree it's contrived, and will be used to justify/defend the use of pitches like this

So when will the ACB protect their product and piss off the Victorian drop in pitches?

The SCG, MCG, WACA, the C stands for cricket, not Victorian Ball.

Dirk Nannes spent about 20 minutes this afternoon lambasting the way Australia plays, and just came across as a whinging bore.

Said he just wanted a team he and his son could be proud of. He was even critical of how enthusiastically the Aussies celebrated wickets in the World Cup final this year. I mean FFS.
That's probably the bit I agree with, tbh. I don't give a shit about celebrating. I thought Faulkner and Haddin acted like merkins in that final (although no surprises there), however, with the over the top send offs of completely inoffensive players (e.g. Elliot and Vettori). Celebrate with gusto, but sending someone off, particularly when they've done nothing to deserve it, is shitty behaviour.

I really dont see why Smith would want to give the Kiwis a sniff as we are already 1 up.

Agreed. Bat for a while and maybe token declaration when the game is out of reach.

Especially when the next test will probably be a crapshoot of who gets a decent ball in the night session.
