Patto is not even in the squad and I dont think he is 5 day fit.

His form for the Vics isn't exactly screaming for him to be picked.

It would be a bad decision to pick him on his form from 2 years ago and he has no current form.

What about Behrendorff?

Not playing the current Shield match, out with a strain. He is apparently on a Pattinson type of 'easing' him through the season a bit. He is just back from a major injury. Should be fit next game but would be a massive gamble in a test match first up.

Apart from Veggieman, the only one that I can see that is test quality and is getting wickets is Jackson Bird. Do we play him?

He has 300 wickets with a decent average and an amazing strike rate. Thats not mediocre.
His SR is up there with the best, but his average and Economy rate aren't that great. Think Jargan was pretty spot on, he was fantastic in patches, ok in others and down right woeful at times which helped lose us series. Add in his batting and fielding and he was still a fantastic cricketer for Aus.

Johnno pretty similar to Brett Lee really. Frightening at best, elite strike rate, could go for runs and had large patches of ineffectiveness. Very good bowler but not the consistency of someone who is a great.

He was a wicket taker but sucked on certain wickets. He is comparable with james anderson imo. Not all time greats but very good when conditions suited.

Geez I don't think Bird has been mentioned since 2013.

Interesting though if he does get his chance, he might go alright.

If Siddle can carry the same performance from his last test, I wouldn't have a problem with him getting picked, although he might get picked anyway.

Bird had stress fractures in his back, but he is back bowling and he has had a good 6 months of bowling. I would rather him play than Veggieman! People thinking that Siddle will bowl as well on an Adelaide road...well his recent figures in Australia show he isn't a great bowler in Australia. He needs a bit in the wicket.

To look at his record one has to reconsider the metrics a bit because he's played in a batsman friendly era. Bigger bats, smaller boundaries, flat wickets. I think his last year shows a bloke who's worn out, but otherwise he's been a good achiever, albeit inconsistent.

It'll be Siddle. Nothing surer

It's a shit option, don't get me wrong, but they'll go for Siddle. Personally I'd even rather Sandhu or Abbott or someone get a run. Not because they're definitely Test material, just because at least they're young and talented enough to possibly benefit from the experience. Siddle is done.

Long term Patto is the man. Johnson when bowling well plays the intimidator. Patto is the same and I think we need that. Starc is quick but I don't think batsmen feel like they're in physical danger against him

Think he was psychologically damaged by the death of hughes tbh. He is at heart a bit of a softie and he was practically in tears when he hit kohli. Its both physical and mental.

A result on this pitch would be to the worst thing for Cricket.

With rain on the way this afternoon, I don't think you will need to worry about a result.

Also, only 19 runs scored in the first half hour so far, so Australia are definitely not batting to accumulate a large total quickly before declaring.

That whingefest by Nannes yesterday afternoon was the suckiest bag of suck that has ever sucked.

Nannes' whiney, stop/start voice coupled with Whateleys pretentious interjections with each ball had me pulling my nut hairs out.

f**k me dead, we lost Kerry for these 2 dribblers. At least they got rid of Langer.
