Don't want to speak too soon but Taylor is looking good so far, showing discipline outside the off stump. Williamson also driving beautifully off the backfoot.

We have to make the most of these conditions while they are goodish for batting.

Australia has had the habit of getting wickets right at the end, and there's nothing more the Kiwis love doing over the years than throwing one away before the end. Come on bad light, end this day.

They say Christmas is the time for miracles. Well I think I just witnessed one. They didn't piss off to the news right on the dot of 6pm.

Good fight back by the Kiwis. Goes to show what a bugger of a wicket that green top is. This is real test cricket.

The pitch is flattening out now, looks like Aussies should be chasing 300 plus if Taylorhangs around. The forecast for tomorrow is poor though.

Perhaps because there was only 1 and a bit overs before stumps and Saturday's news is the lowest rating of the week - just putting it out there.

Great fightback from the Kiwis today. Game on. Now let's see if Taylor and Williamson are still there at lunch tomorrow.

Lining up to be a cracker of a test. All the pieces are in play for a career defining and match winning century for Hughes with a cameo from hometown boy Ponting.

Calling it now, we're going to win by 8 wickets with Ponting and Hughes getting the lions share of the target.

Wouldn't suprise me 1 bit if that did happen.

1st hour tomorrow is crucial to this test. If we lose 1, we'll most likely fall in a heap, if not, we're in with a slight chance.

Bunniesman: why can't you just say "I hope Hughes and Ponting bat well and win us the match" like a normal human being?

At least he plays cricket at the international level.

What do you do? Run around pissing people off at LU and on't earn much probably
Well thats some stupid logic.

I don't believe I argued the fact that he plays at the international level? Yep because not playing a sport at the highest level stops everybody else from criticizing people who do play at the highest level...

If it did the sports opinion pages in the paper would be close to empty.

None of what you said makes what I said any less true. He is at less than the ideal physique for a professional sportsman. And his attitude and lazyness makes him waste his talent. His dismissal today was appalling. And the commentators were saying that reports from NZ were he just can't be bothered sticking to a proper diet. That's embarassing. If he's not willing to do whatever it takes to be the best player he can be while representing his country then everything I said in the post you quoted is spot on.

The forecast is actually for early rain in Hobart so it will be interesting to see how the conditions are tomorrow when we get on the field. We need to knock Taylor over early.
