Whichever city gets that Test vs Afghanistan is going to be sold an utter shit sandwich.

If we're dropping down to five tests a summer you'd have to imagine you'd take what you can get.

This is what f**king shits me the most - with the promotion of Afghanistan and Ireland to test status, this was a golden opportunity to start playing test matches in places that would never normally see the game. Cities like Canberra, Wollongong, Newcastle, Launceston, Ballarat, etc.could host short tours in October/November to warm up our players for the summer season with a cheeky two-test series and a few quick ODI's to give fringe players a taste. All of these places have grounds that are equal to Dunedin or Harare for f**ks sake, and by playing them in regional areas whose venues only hold 8-10k would be ideal.

But f**king no. Fewer tests. No regional grounds. All Big Bash, all the time.

They put on 10 overs of quality bowling, but they've fallen off the pace.

Burns better be careful or he is just going to throw his wicket away playing at balls like that

my god our top order is shit, Marcus Harris looks like he is giving gully catching practise with that scoop/cut shot he plays

Oozie just cannot get forward anymore, his head is in the wrong place, in more ways than one

I see Burns hasn't learned a damn thing from when he last got dropped, still cant play a forward defensive but he'll look good playing back to these pie throwers now the pitch has flattened out

commentators saying Labs was unlucky as he got good ball, looked pretty straight to me

Head has a t least looked like a batsman but I feel the poms will make a mess of this lot with the duke ball

You'd lock in a Test schedule along the lines of this:

Year 1 England / Ashes 5 tests /// could even squeeze in Ireland 1-2 tests before or after The Ashes.

WINTER

Year 2 India (ideally 5 tests) 4 tests // SL 3 tests

WINTER Ashes Tour

Year 3 South Africa (ideally 5 tests, stoked with 4 tests) 3 tests // Pakistan 3 tests // Afghanistan or Ireland 1-2 tests

WINTER Bangladesh // WI 2-3 tests

Year 4 WI 3 tests // NZ - 3 tests [MCG & Sydney] // 1-2 tests Afghanistan or Ireland

WINTER Afghanistan or Ireland 1-2 winter tests [Darwin / Cairns ]

2 overs in a row Burns has been overly keen to farm the strike.
Who wouldn't I suppose, given the bowling.

Needs to be careful.
