Hopefully we can bat best part of 2 sessions tomorrow and get a 200 plus lead or thereabouts. Kiwis would want to bowl us out with well under a 100 run lead to be in the game.

So glad for Burns to get some runs against quality world class pace bowling

I am still waiting for him to do it outside of Australia

Made hundreds and a double ton in England, a hundred in NZ, made runs in the UAE (however still not his best series) and was pretty much our best (without the hundreds) when we played in India away.

Smith's one weakness is genuine swing bowling early but jeez that is every batsman's 'weakness'. Get the ball swinging whether you are Don Bradman or Chris Martin you will struggle a bit early.

Yes I am quite aware, just taking the piss out of the Kiwis who doubted his ability to do it away from home, despite having done it before this series

Yeah. The problem with you (and others) is that you do so completely disproportionaltely- you blokes can turn some isolated off-hand comment into some sort of supposed national dogma. Any excuse for a circle jerk, eh?

And the fact that you had to explain it makes it all the more excruciating.

A real beat down - we'll have to show discipline and character to get a draw - I'm still hopeful, but for whatever reason they seem unable to do it against Australia

I said it a few pages back, but Smith is a fine leader, and will be a very good/great Aust captain imo - obviously I am no Clarke fan, but pretty obvious to anyone that there's been a turnaround in culture etc since he left
