2nd Test: New Zealand v India at Wellington Feb 14-18, 2014

Just incredible stuff.

Whilst it may be a road the mental effort of being out in the field so long will be hard to overcome.

And McCullum to get two doubles in a row is stunning. He only averages 35 & has only scored 9 centuries in 80 odd matches.

I guess the keeping hurt his average a bit though.

McCullum knows Neesham has a FC average in the 30s right?

He's swinging like a madman.

Seriously nervous moments here for NZ. McCullum has lost his head. Neesham dropped. Test cricket is king.

Certainly the new ball does a bit - a lot will depend on what inroads Southee and Boult can make...

Good courageous stuff though - why not a 3 test series eh!

Best innings by a New Zealander in a Test, and one of the greats by any cricketer, IMO

agree on the second point, not sure it's definitely the best - but certainly in elite company...

Glad for him, he's always been a huge talent, and taken a lot of shit - he's a tough bugger, and our best keeper bat ever imo...

Neesham looks a good kid too, once we get some openers, we're looking good!

Fantastic test this..

I wasn't paying attention until today, but i love seeing an under dog beat the odds, so i'm actually going for Noo Zuland here..

I might be writing off Crowe's too easily. The circumstances are very similar

Crowe is your best by a long way imo, he was pretty good for his entire career where as big Mac is just having a run of hot form.

i was comparing crowe's 299 to this innings, not them as batsmen

Yep, and the other one I recall is Greatbatch's at the WACA - similar minutes, many fewer runs. Crowe and Jones woiuld have got together at 2 down, I presume, so at 90/5 we were in deeper shit here, so I'll give Baz the edge there

Not 100% sure Crowe is our best bat definitively - there's a group - Crowe, Turner, Sutcliffe, Donnelly... And Taylor is starting to force his name into that discussion too...

Not like the bowlers where Hadlee is clear - and Cowie and Bond next

Think McCullum now obvious as our best keeper bat, and this innings is insprirational - I am not a Hesson fan, but always thought McCullum was a more natural leader, and both he and Taaylor are thriving now

our second highest test score now!
