It certainly lends itself to a revived/reviving Australian team...we were all interested to see what this clash would reveal about the true state of the Australian team and the negativity of South Africa seems to reveal that these blokes are not just a better-than-mediocre (by Australian standards) lot who bullied a poor English team.

Poor wicket, not conjusive to attacking cricket. No bounce or pace if we can get De Villiers early and rolled them for around 250 we are well on top. If the weather is shit on day 4 or 5 we could see a draw coming up.

poor weather or not, I'm struggling to see a result on this wicket unless our batting collapses.

Saffers can bat slow for an eternity if they want to.

The patience of the batting line ups is what will determine the result of this test more than anything. That has me a bit worried. I'd love to see Warner score a Steve Waugh like century.

Looks like the pitch was prepared to take the sting out of Johnson's bowling, or as Stuey Clarke says, they are suffering from Mitch Johnsonitis.

The saffas has a some soft dismissal from Lyon and Smiffy's bowling, we just gotta make sure we dont so the same and bat it out

to be honest, this is a test where a result will only happen if there are only 3 innings. If we can get saffers out quick, by say an hour after lunch at the worst, and then bat til lunch day 4, we should have a big enough lead to tempt the saffers to try and chase the runs down.

That's when our bowling attack works best, when batsmen are trying to score frequently from it.

When a side plays defensively, we struggle to get wickets.

SA need to win at least one test as they hold the (whats this trophy called? the Kepler wessels cup? lol) trophy. If this game is a draw, then they will make sure its a juicy deck for the 3rd, they will have no option.

Hope we bat here and make 650

If they had Zulu Kluesner or Herschell Gibbs in the side maybe

but if you gave them a target of say 370 to get in 5 sessions, they'd be tempted to have a crack at it and it would play into our favour on this shit deck.

Un necessary risk IMO

were 1-0 up, they have never beaten us on their home soil, this test a draw and that record stands. They are the ones needing to give us a sniff

Just need about 2.40 runs per over to win it. all they will do is just defend and pick up the singles, same as if you set them 450 in 4 sessions.

f**ken kiwis win a series at home against India and think they're the best team in the world.

STFU, asswipe.
Who the f**k are you??

And what the f**k does NZ's series against India have to do with it...

Your f**king geniused... Go read my post you piece of shit...

NZ isn't mentioned anywhere... And FFS... We are nowhere near the best in the world... Not even in the top 5...

Common sense says you don't judge these blokes based on one test match... They are number 1 & 2 on the planet for a reason...

Get the f**k outta here you newbie genius...

Lmao epic meltdown ^^

I thought that was our day. 5/214 on that pitch is a good start with but now we need to go on with it. AB is set and if Duminy hangs around that could be the difference between 300 or less and 400+

Hopefully they make the new ball count and rattle through them early.

Their earlier Indian run 'chase' showed us that South Africa will not risk chasing it.
