Johnson pulled the same face there as he does when someone asks him what swing bowling is.

Finn also was a handful a year or so ago...

Bresnan is a very good bowler, so should get a run if fit - might be worth giving Rankin a go, not seen much of him, but at 6 ft 7 if he can get his length in Perth he could be useful.

At the end of the day it remains their batting that has let them down most - an attack of Broad, Anderson, Bresnan and Swann (perhaps Finn) with Stokes should test Australia enough, but if they countinue to get mauled for under 200 this will be a whitewash

If England really wanted to throw the gauntlet back at Australia they could go in with Anderson, Broad, Rankin, Tremlett/Finn. A bit of a throwback to the old West Indies days of a full pace quartet, and in Perth too.

I don't particularly rate Bresnan, he more the honest toiler type than a strike bowler.

You are right in saying that its the batting that's the big problem, but throw that attack in there and rattle Australia and that should do the overall confidence some good. England are no mugs and most of them are due now.

 yes, lest we forget his flaws, which will re-emerge at some stage.. I expect he'll continue to be streaky, this will run out and more shit will creep into his bowling...certainly, getting him in the team when he's got the ball coming out right and confident is worth it... as is his batting - perhaps he's worth Watson's place///

Bollinger and Coulter Nile in the squad for perth apparently...haven't seen much of either at shield level this year, how are they going?

Bollinger probably should be there, 17 wickets at 25. But NCN has 11 at 32. I reckon there was more deserving options than him.

Surely the plan for Englad is simple - bat better, deny Johnson (while he's bowling well, many of the dismissals should have been avoided), he'll get impatient more verbals (as per 2nd innings Adelaide) and eventually bowl shit (as he has most of his career)

I think in general - if they can't play the hook shot (which most can't very well) - just leave the ball. The bowlers will bowl less bouncers when you just leave it

That would be a huge blow. Besides the fact he is an outstanding bowler, it's been his and Siddle's ability to contain the Poms that has meant Johnson can focus on being a strike bowler.

C'mon Rhino, just one more game!

He's perfect for the WACA too, generally a fuller length and makes them play. Poms cant handle a good WACA length and the slips will likely get a decent workout when he's on.
