poor bastard...does not look well and can't say that I would blame for taking a rest if offered

If you were the physio the first words out of your mouth would almost have to be..."I ain't rubbing it"

Have to be careful not to have him in the team too long. Otherwise the rest of the team is carrying a liability , like the case with Ponting

I guess my consideration towards Hussey is that unlike Ponting, he was a late bolter (didn't crack the test team until he was 30). However, Hussey, even at 37, has been a fantastic form as of late and as I said, he at least makes the Ashes tour and at the very latest (depending on his form), I'd keep him until the SCG test vs England in January 2014 just so we have some much needed experience in the middle order. We can't make the same mistake like last 2010/11 Ashes and use a marquee tournament to blood new players. We paid the price for treating such an event with a lot of disrespect by handing out baggy green caps like Weet Bix cards. I'm pretty sure we learnt from our mistake in that regard. The bottom line, whoever we blood in the SL series is who we should stick with for the Ashes tour (and tour of India, which I heard we have next year)

Watson though (much to the chagrin of Lockyno1) needs to move down the order if he's to stay in the side. We simply have not got our value for money from his batting and we need to get a lot more bowling out from him. I'd play him at 6, which is where he started in the side a few years ago.

The 2009 ashes test on boxing day he inside edged one on the first day when Australia got skittled for 98. Very painful, but this is not the first time this has happened

You mean the 2010 Boxing Day test (as I think we played Pakistan in 2009)?

Yeah, I remember that one. A very dark day for Australian cricket. One of the most gutless performances from our batting lineup and shows what a blight 20/20 has been on our batting techniques.

This was after our heroic 120 or so all out in that Pakistan series too.

Just relax. How close were we to being up 1-0 after Adelaide.

It looks like being a 1-0 loss after 3 non rain interrupted tests. There isn't that much between us and them.

south africa were rubbish at adelaide and still got a draw.

They will beat us easily here.

They have a better 11 then us. you said it yourself, our openers arent concrete yet, ponting is past it and a bystander at 4, watson at 3 coming of injury...

and thats only whats wrong with our batters.

Is anyone pissed off at watching these ads from these wannabe rockstars Benji Madden and his brother, alongside another rocker wannabe Slats? Someone should just throw that lawn bowls ball at them

Umm.. we lost an entire day's play in Brisbane..
Just a day. 4 days is enough for a result if we were as bad as everyone is saying.

I just read that next summer, there will only be 5 tests, 5 ODIs and 3 T20 internationals (all vs England) played in order to accomodate the BBL. Stuff that!

Our biggest issue is our bowlers, not our batters.

Decent bowling would prevent a side from trying to chase over 600 runs in the last dig.

Australia's quicks have failed to get 20 wickets in a test far too often in recent years.

Not to mention opposition sides beating us when chasing over 400 in the 4th inns.

Just dumb f**king bowling.

Thats why they play the big venues like Luna Park and Festival Hall in Melbourne.....

I think with Pattinson and Cummins our attack will be world class (those two may never play more then 10 tests each due to injuries though!)

Our batting is a bit more suspect at the moment though, the top order isn't settled at all.
