3rd Test: Australia vs South Africa in Sydney

A great test on a trying wicket that could have gone either way but for Smiths injury and then his heroics in trying to save the game.

Siddle - man of the match my arse - Clarke should have been a certainty.

The thing I loved about this series was the sportsmanship shown between the two countries - not a f**king whinging Pom, Kiwi, Indian or ill mannered Aussie in sight.

Long may this sportsmanship continue in the great game that is test cricket.

Thats what Test match cricket is all about, 20/20 can go f**k itself. What do we do about McDonald, for me he didn't do anything to show that he deserves the keep a test spot.

and, tbh, not that far off beating the safas.

I reckon we can knock 'em off over there.

I'm not suggesting we are better than them but with Clark in and Hayden out, we should be a much better team and last time Clarky toured RSA he got man of the series.

Yeah I agree. There were some worrying signs for us, particularly in terms of our bowling, but also signs that if we pick the right players in the spots that are causing us issues, we can beat South Africa. Some of the captaincy was a problem, however

lol..dig dig

I know exactly what you said and even on the first page we have a "Go SA" quote by yourself. Now that you have lost and being exposed as a clueless goose go and have a good cry. :D
I was being sarcastic FMD :? If i am a Saffa supporter why was i upset about how poorly we bowled

If you're pleased with tail ender batting them to within 10 deliveries of saving the unsalvageable then I'd be questioning your cricketing knowledge...except it is rather obvious that would be waste of time...

Where did i say i was pleased with them lasting so long. I exposed crackrulz because of his constant bagging of Mitchell and Ponting. Mitchell was australia's best bowler all summer and Ponting is doing a good job considering the talent at his disposal.

Agreed. I still maintain we need a batsman at 6, I'd be replacing him with one of North, Marsh, or possibly Travis Birt depending on form in the state and/or international games they all play prior to the tour

Well said, both sides got some sh*t decsions but no one took their bat and ball and went home.

Johnson was good before the South Africans worked out that they could leave anything pitching on middle and off to the right hander. He took 17 wickets for the tour I think, maybe 18....11 of those were taken in Perth. After Perth he was average, and that's the issue people have with him.

The thing is, those worrying signs for us, could have easily been reversed if we took our chances in the first two tests.

We do need our top order to fire, cant keep relying on the tail wagging.

But, for all the hype about how bad we have been going, we've just lost a test series 2-1, against a quality side, where each test went to the last session on the last day, and where, in the first two tests, we let it slip after being in a commanding position.

Gilchrist knew it was time to go when he dropped simple catches, Hayden surely must know its retirement time now

Smith, well deserved as well.

Certainly was and it's a measure of the man who I thought was a brash young smart arse a few years ago to lead his country to it's first series win over here with such humility.
