given australias largely inept performances this tournament england definately have a chance.

if it comes down to individual skill australia will blow the poms out the water but i imagine england will be pretty pumped and have momentum after beating the kiwis. austrlia on the other hand still look like they havent trained together...

They have been pretty lacklustre but Australia have been the best team of the tournament to this point regardless,

Australia must be breathing a sigh of relief that their biggest threat has exited the tournament.

against England or New Zealand, after Australia's first half performance this morning - Australia would have been down by at least 20. That said I think Australia would approach a game against England or New Zealand with a lot more hunger than they did this. Australia definitely have the better team and probably should win, but England have the opportunity to prove themselves and are still in it ...

I have some serious concerns over our forward pack. I just hope Petro stands up and leads them. Our backs are streets ahead of England, so if we can atleast hold our own in the forwards we should win comfortably. That's a big IF though.

I can't see Hayne being dropped despite his poor form on the wing

It shouldn't happen but I wouldn't be surprised if Jennings came in for Hodges or Hayne.

That is an absolutely terrible bench. I can't remember a time when Australia has been so weak in the forwards and it's not like their are lots of injuries or anything.

This is where Australia are vulnerable. I think this is why NZ can beat them because they are capable of attacking straight up the middle.

If England are going to win they need to dominate up the middle and try and make the game a battle of the forwards. If the game is open and free flowing Australia's backs will rip England to pieces.

I am definitely tipping Australia. I think England's attack up the middle isn't quite strong enough to pose the same problems as NZ. I also think Englands backs are just to far off Australia's. They just need some decent centres/wingers to come through and they could be a real threat.

15. Shillington, Up and coming prop, has played for QLD, has done well off the bench this tourament.
16. Lewis, has played wing for Australia, won a grand final, played for NSW, can play wing, centre or any back row position.
17. Cronk, twice Grand final winning halfback, can play hooker, half or 5/8.


You consider this an absolutely terrible bench.

I suppose Billy is touching on the fact that White, as a forward, can underperform at crucial times.
And the forward pack has definitely been the issue of the tournament.

I'm definitely happy with it though, especially Cronk.
In terms of Hayne fullback or not, I don't think that Billy should be dethroned simply because Hayne has had a fantastic backend of the season for Parra.
He played fine there for NSW and if he takes his opportunities properly he'll be fine.

Australia should win no matter what combination of players Tim Sheens decides on. Greg Inglis will get us home if it's a close game... while Billy Slater and Cameron Smith will be able to lean the odds toward us winning by a decent margin.

I'm hoping that Tim Sheens considers how awful our right hand attack has been all series, and keeps Michael Jennings in the side. Although it's almost a given that the backline will be the same as it was in Game 1. Even though he has stated that no positions are safe and people who fail to perform will be dropped. I even expect he will probably include Kurt Gidley on the bench despite being one of the worst against France.

the main thing i think England have going for them is their build up game. Similar to last year's RLWC, Australia flogged Fiji in the Semi whereas NZ had a tough game v England.... England's best chance to capitalise.. the Australian team would be complacent and would've hardly broken a sweat

The trend so far is that the team playing France has lost the next week.

Still, Australia should win quite comfortably
