Not sure what the problem is with some of the selection ideas forwarded by MoorookaSaint Vic to be honest outside that of Matt 'The Myth' Cooper. Young would be better suited on the bench in place of Gidley if Sheens is going to play Gidley like he did vs PNG.

Boyd was one of the best players all season and deserves an Australian jumper from where I sit.

If the question about Tuqiri being picked ahead of Boyd in regards to Sheens' alleged Tigers bias wasn't answered, it sure was by the fact Tuqiri got to play left wing despite a specialist left winger in Brett Morris being forced to the right...

Tate, Gidley, Tiquiri, Myles- OUT
Cooper (not in squad I know), Young, Carney, Boyd- IN

Just my opinion. It's got me buggered how St.George can win the comp' in such dominant fashion and not have at least a hand-full of players in the test side.
The WestsTigers won in 2005,and got 1 player Prince in the test team,Prince played second fiddle to Thurston,so we had no one in the 17,stop whinging you won the comp.

Morris played on the right last year in the final, I forgot jarryd hayne played for the tigers.

i thought lote had a fairly decent game , enough to warrant his selection throughout the 4 nations. tonga and tate were woeful and should not have been picked in the first place. i can understand why cronk got picked since he has been waiting in the wings for his chance for a long time plus the whole storm connection. but i personally would love to see and think carney should be in the number 7. he is the future and would learn so much of lockyer. at the very least he should be on the bench for kidley.who does absolutley nothing . worst representive "impact" player i can recall.

he has young in for Myles

Cooper is a complete spastic who was nsw's worst player this year.

The Kiwis, and Bronson Harrison in particular, will be begging Sheens to pick Lawrence

Dean Young makes more sense than Gidley if Sheens is going to play Gidley that way. Young would be really handy on the bench as I don't see Smith coming off and Young is a good option in the forward rotation.
I agree, and Tonga was poor, replace him with Lawrence.

WTF?

I'm referring to yesterdays game specifically, where Brett Morris, incumbent left winger for Australia was shafted for one of Sheens' favourites.

Difference is the Dragons have dominated the NRL for the last two years where the Tigers of 05 had a average year, made the finals and we all know what happen from there. I don't think you could compare the two.

If there needs to be any more evidence of stupidity in selection it's blokes like Willie Tonga and Brent Tate getting jerseys. Boggles the mind. Tate is way too injury-prone to play good, consistent rep footy and more, together the pair would have to be what, third or fourth choice in the country? Where are Jennings, Lawrence et al and why are they being overlooked?

I also completely agree the Dragons are way underrepresented but that happens when you have a club coach as a rep coach.

Don't think you could blame Cooper for NSW lose this year. Our forwards didn't go forward and our halves did nothing. You can't expect our outside backs to go to well after that. As for Lote, pretty disappointing when your a winger in the Aus team playing PNG and your team scores 48pts and you can't score a try. I'm sure Boyd would have done better.

I guess there in the side because QLD have dominated SoO for the last five years. I bet if NSW won it this year Jennings would have been selected.

He was already going to be playing on the right, with Hayne on the left.

Isn't Michael Jennings injured? I think he would have been in the side if he was fit given the injuries to Inglis, Hodges and Lyon. I would say he's probably next inline after those blokes.

Even Josh Morris would be ahead of Tonga I imagine but he's injured too.

I mentioned this when the squad was announced and was roundly shouted down, with everyone saying that Tonga and Tate thoroughly deserved their selections.

Hate to say I told you so but...

Depending on Tate's fitness...

1. Billy Slater
2. Brett Morris
3. Brent Tate*
4. Chris Lawrence
5. Lote Tuqiri
6. Darren Lockyer
7. Cooper Cronk
8. David Shillington
9. Cameron Smith
10. Petero Civoniceiva
11. Nate Myles
12. Sam Thaiday
13. Paul Gallen

14. Kurt Gidley
15. Tom Learoyd-Lahrs
16. Mat Scott
17. Luke Lewis

*If Tate isn't fit, Tonga to come in.

Bit controversial shifting Myles in the bench in front of Lewis who I thought was one of our best but I believe Myles is more of a physical player and Lewis has more of an impact value. Scott in front of Watmough to give us more go forward up the middle.
