Watching Australia and Samoa battle it out for the wooden spoon would be one of the highlights of my year

So England, Australia and New Zealand each get a vote on which ref gets each game and we end up with an Aussie reffing the Australia game and a Kiwi reffing the New Zealand game. How surprising.

They are just making sure that we have an Australia v NZ final.
We know that in the Australia v England game a vast majority of the 50/50 calls will favour Australia.
There is very little chance of Samoa beating NZ, but just in case there there is a slight chance they have given the Kiwis a kiwi ref.

As expected? Every bookmaker in Australia have the Kangeroos as favorites

They are the favourites! Depleted team or not, we haven't beaten them (incl GB) since 2006 and they are the world champions. So all the pressure is on them... Just hope we knock them off their perch as it will be brilliant for the game and English RL. Roll on 0500hrs!

If over 20k have been sold it should be 25k+ with Flemington walkups, which 15 years ago in Melbourne would have seemed like a pipe dream.

28.6k is the British Lions record, 18.9k the highest against England at this ground (higher at Ethiad during the WC).

This is the sort of attitude I love. Basically, two future immortals and 15 of the best NRL players should get their ar**s handed to them by a team with 5 NRL players and 12 from the 'sub standard' SL.

People need to make their minds up about the quality of our second rate SL competition.

Typical response from our southern hemisphere friends; get their excuses in early just in case the unthinkable happens and we roll them over knocking them out of the tournament. Australia are the favourites and we are rank outsiders. We all know it and all the pressure is on Australia.
