Maddo can play a bit. He's not as bad as these other turds.

Yeah he's got the talent....but even as someone who recognises that, I'd have to say he'd easily be in the bottom few Test bats I've had the misfortune of seeing.

Why?

They don't owe CA anything. If anything, CA owes them. They may well contribute to their local clubs, or their childrens clubs, or whatever. The issue is that CA won't loosen the purse strings to get these guys working in a proper capacity.

And beyond that, which of Warne's mates would genuinely be worth a go anyway? Just because they were good cricketers doesn't mean they'll do any better than the coaches we have. The one from that era is Gillespie, and he's been blacklisted and treated like shit.

Genuine question: Why has Gillespie been blacklisted?

Poor old Deano is just another Victorian who is still upset that his mates never got a run in the 90’s and early 2000’s...anyhoo wouldn’t it be nice if we could talk about players being in line who have consistently scored big runs in the shield over the last 2-3 seasons and not just base “form” on who scored a hundred last weekend.

If teams were picked solely of form, Blake Austin would have been the greatest NSW origin player ever and look how he turned out...

The big story coming out of this series is, once again, the importance of quality pitches to the future of Test cricket.

The first two Tests were awesome. They offered plenty for the bowlers but also allowed quality batsman to score a ton if they were good enough.

Contrast that to the dour bitumen dished up in the next two Tests. Starc looked like Chris Harris from ball one in Melbourne. And the SCG has not been much better tbh.

The defining moment of a Test match should NOT be the toss. And in the last two Tests as soon as India won the toss the game was over.
One of these tests should have been played in Brisbane.

Because he coached in one of the T20 leagues. In Pakistan, maybe? I'm on mobile so CBF digging it up...

There was an article and some discussion a while ago about an internal memo, which IIRC basically said that because he coached in that, CA would "stay away from somebody like that" or words to that affect. It's why Dizzy didn't apply for the gig.

You're too kind.

Maddinson's stint as a Test cricketer is the worst I've ever seen from a batsman.

Watching him reminded me of Simon Kerrigan. The England one gamer a few years back who totally got the yips and forgot how to ball.

I genuinely felt for Maddinson because it was like he'd never held a bat. Didn't he have a mental breakdown not long after? Poor kid.

Lol.

Just give up.
That would be the Australian cricket team minus their best players.

Lol we need Burns in the team because he can score centuries - we don't need Carey in the team because he can score centuries.....in fact you'd bat him below Starc (who's flat out hitting the ball on a tee).

Cricket genius!

Didn't do too well in Perth, the only time he was under a skerrick of pressure.

It was the only pitch with any sort of zip too, India have won every toss they needed to win and their cricket board made sure the first test at the Gabba wasn't an option

That Alex Carey and his outstanding average of 29 will save us!

Back to 4C, blow in.

They selected him when he was out of form for NSW too, they always seem to do that.
