What kind of a score here from Labuschagne is going to endear him to you?
In all seriousness, if he can arrest the rapid loss of top order wickets and knock up a 50 or so, he will be greeted well enough.

But, he was picked as an all round spin option and wasn't used anywhere near enough as a bowler.

Not his fault, the comments are more a slur on selectors than anyone else.

His spin bowling was used to justify his selection, but it seemed to me that he was being picked to do what they wanted Mitchell Marsh to do, which was score runs and bowl a couple of overs as a bonus.

He looks solid enough so far. If he can support Harris to go on & make a big hundred he’ll have done his job.

I've got nothing against the young South African.

It's not like he has played 30 tests and achieved nothing ala Marsh

Possibly, the problem was that he didn't bowl anywhere near enough and was so poor that Khawaja came on to bowl some pies as well.

If the selectors had've said he was being brought in purely as a batsman, he probably wouldn't have copped much criticism at all.
