Strange that they supplement Dad’s Army with a young fella that doesn’t normally open against the best quick in the world, then look to drop him for a younger opener…. While some of the old men have looked equally bad, or in some cases demonstrably worse…. Makes sense..,

It certainly makes sense when you see that the one being dropped is the one the selector isn't mates with...

I think the point though is he did about as well as he could and dropping him is a farce, tbh.

I don't think anyone would say he's killed it. But he showed he has the attitude needed and failing against the best bowler in the world is hardly something you can blame a veteran of three tests for. He's batted better than Uzi and Darsh, at least. Probably as well as Labs on balance. He doesn't deserve the flick
I agree. People laughed when I said stick with Smith opening, his 90 odd last year when he almost won us the game should have been built upon. Unless we were just going to back an opener

Smith doesn't want to open?

This policy of 'pick the 6 best batsman and they can bat anywhere' is stoopud. Especially when they keep picking marsh.

lol ridiculous decision, what else would you expect with a dick puller like Bailey in charge??? If Marsh plays the next test Bailey needs to be loaded into a cannon alongside Darsh and fired into the sun with him.

If we were just trying to see off Bumrah for a few tests then literally Bancroft or Harris were better options. Get them anywhere near their 25 test average and its good enough if thats the goal.

McSweeney appeared to be a pick for the future. They give him three tests against the best bowler in the world in trying conditions and give him the chop. They've got it totally wrong and now pissed all over him.

to be fair he was picked as an all rounder when Green was injured, so maybe pick your best 5 then your best all rounder, but picking an all rounder who cant bowl is pretty stoopid

if McSweeney is dropped this has to be the most ridiculous decision Bailey has ever made

we take a young midle order batsman and make him open against the best bowler in the world, then drop him afrter 3 matches and he hasn't been our worst batsman

I wonder if this clown had given any thought to giving credit to Bumrah for our top order failing, but no, he needs a scapegoat. What's even worse, if thats possible, is the fact that they might be considering a teenager to face Bumrah

how do you get a job as Australian selector ? I would mind applying, I guess I just need the lobotomy first so I qualify
