The pitches were quite fast for the last ashes. I don't think they flatten the pitches quite as much for England and the rsa. The flattest pitch I've ever seen was the waca for nz and the mcg for the windies. Now that was clearly 5 day pitches for TV

Well in fairness I have no problem with preparing flat tracks for the Windies. In fact the way they're going I'd have no issues if they put down synthetic.....

I dont have any proof of this but i reckon cricket Australia leans on the curators based on who is touring.

England and rsa pretty normal.
India and Pakistan quite flat
Nz, wi and sri lanka flat as f**k.

Like the mcg test in question Australia could have probably scored 1000 in our first innings. Don voges and smith could have probably both scored 450 if they took their time.

Just look at this scorecard

Yeah I remember that one.

Problem is the Windies could play at O'Connor and still get rolled for under 300.....even on that track they got 270 and 280. Prepare anything with any character and the Test could legit be over by lunch on day 3.....

I agree though, they definitely prepare different wickets for different sides IMO.

I think cricket australia lost a lot of money from an indian tour in 2010 where they batted like gutless cowards on some spicy pitches and its made them gunshy with teams they think australia could bounce out in a couple of days.

I actually think this indian team plays bounce better and should be given proper Australian pitches when they tour next time.

I was reading in the book whitewash to whitewash (dont know how accurate it is) that cricket australia felt if we lost the 2013/14 ashes basically everyone would have their jobs at risk. So cricket australia told clarke and Lehman that they would back the australian cricket team basically no matter what with a few exceptions (like say racism) and they had their permission to be as ugly as they liked so long as they won the ashes. Hence broken f**king arm and David warners ludicrous press conference where he said the poms had "scared eyes"

It wouldn't surprise me that the plan was to play johnson and spice the wickets up the moment he bounced out trott in an odi series after the English ashes.

Its not pretty but its hard to play
