First of all, you're an idiot. Read through the posts properly before you embarrass yourself.

In regards to the no-ball, the question was asked whether an umpire should be able to ask for a referral of his own non-decision. It was simply thrown out there to see people's thoughts. Nobody disputed the actual decision.

And with the Bell hot spot incident the general discussion centred around the value of hot spot given that it is known not to be 100% accurate.

Not a single person has suggested in the slightest that either decision has had any impact on the outcome of the match.

I dont believe I mentioned you at all mate, but thanks for the free assessment of my mental state.

It was more of a general criticism of the Australian public/media's reaction to losing, which has been I think by any sane judgement pretty petty and poor.

Also would we be having this discussion if the issue was an Australian batsmen? I doubt it.

Doesn't matter where we play we just need to bite the bullet and do it. Sri Lanka should pound us particularly with our spin stocks as they are.

edit; my bad misread

We had the perfect oportunity to bloood players last summer, and test vs nz and pakistan in england. Vs weaker test sides. get young guys in the groove of test cricket. But our genius selectors decide to stick with out of form north, johnson and hauritz. Then decide the ashes is a great time to drop them

Hilfy the destroyer, great ball to get out Matt Prior, certainly worth 1 Allan Border medal point that

Ugh, again I hate this.

If he thought it was a no-ball why didn't he call it?

Makes me wonder how many no balls they miss normally. It'd be highly unlikely that the only no balls they miss happen to result in wickets.

A well deserved wicket for Hilfenhaus, it may be just enough to bring his series average down under 80 :sarcasm:

That's just my frustration at our uselessness manifesting itself.

Yes we would be having this discussion. It's just a discussion on the merits of certain technology.

missed my point, not when we play, but where and who

I don't care where and who we still need to do it. Should have started last summer.

There is officially no excuse now if at least one or two of our batsmen don't score hundreds.

Hilfenhaus has taken some important wickets. How can you drop him? He keeps it tight and that creates wickets at the other end. He's really troubled the opposing captain at times. And how can you drop Mitchell? He's just taken 4 and could get 5, he also destroyed England in Perth. And Siddle - 2 6-fers in the series. These guys won us a series in South Africa. We know they are good bowlers, they've do the job for us in the past, we're confident they'll do it again for us in the future.

Just for Azkatro

Here is a list of all the series where a team won 3 or more matches in the series by an innings

1928 - ENG v WIN - ENG 3 wins
1930-31 - AUS v ENG - AUS 3 wins
1931-32 - AUS v SAF - AUS 3 wins
1935-36 - SAF v AUS - AUS 3 wins
1947-48 - AUS v IND - AUS 3 wins
1957 - ENG v WIN - ENG 3 wins
1958 - ENG v NZL - ENG 3 wins
1959 - ENG v IND - ENG 3 wins
1966 - ENG v WIN - WIN 3 wins
1993-94 - IND v SRL - IND 3 wins
2007-08 - SRL v BAN - SRL 3 wins

so yes, if Australia loses by an innings in this test, it will be the first time we've lost 3 tests by an innings in one series, ever!

Cheers, surprised it's happened so many times actually.

I reckon the next fifty posts on here would have been about the "decision" if Hilfy's wicket was given not out, but as it wasn't its gone through to the keeper (pun intended).

This is getting emabarrasing mind. Glad Im not back in England, where I had to endure the 2005 and 2009 losses, that was hard to handle, but this is bad.

I honestly thought England would lose motivation in this one and we might win. Shows the sign of a good team that they can still dominate us like this.

Lets also not forget Hilfys contribution with the bat, surely a promotion into the top 6 is in order

From an English point of view im liking how much the ball is moving. A few early wickets and were laughing.
