You could be right, leave Tolman at 7, he is getting pretty good, and Hindmarsh 8.5. I couldnt give him 9, leave that for best couple in that position

Nathan Hindmarsh acheivements for 2009
  • 2009 Big League Team of the Year - Second Row
  • Voted 2nd rower of the decade
  • 2009 Australian 2nd Row rep
and somehow he's not in the best couple for he's position??

Anyone bagging Shillington mustn't have watched him play in a Raiders jersey.

One of the best props of 09, and rightfully rewarded with Queensland, PM's XIII and Australian jumpers.

8. Shillington - 8
9. Tongue - 7 at hooker, 10 at lock
10. Tilse - 8
11. Learoyd-Lahrs - 9
12. Harrison - 9
13. Miller - 8

Total = 49

The Raiders easily have one of the best forward packs in the NRL, perhaps shaded only by Souths - and not by much at that.

And in keeping with rating another side as well, Parramatta:

8. Cayless - 6
9. Keating - 6
10. Moi Moi - 8.5
11. Hindmarsh - 2
12. Smith - 4
13. Mateo - 8

Total = 34.5

Harrison is a better player than Moi Moi (Tilse and Miller are on par with Mateo)? LOL I love raiders fans. Your forward pack is seriously overrated, its got size and talent, but none of them perform week in week out.

I won't even bother addressing your rating of Hindmarsh

These threads are hilarious. Why not change the title to Why My Team Is Better Than Your Team and be done with it?

I'll try and be a bit objective about the Cowboys. This wouldn't be my personal pick, but probably what Neil Henry will run with.

8. Matt Scott - 8
9. Aaron Payne - 8
10. Carl Webb - Anything from 4-9 for Mr Inconsistent
11. Steve Southern - 6
12. Steve Rapira - 5 and rising
13. Luke O'Donnell - 8.5

14. Anthony Watts - 6.5
15. Antonio Kaufusi - 2. Deadset useless
16. James Tamou - 6 and rising
17. Manase Manuokafoa - 5

Starting pack = 39.5-44.5
Bench = 19.5

Compared to Manly

Manly
8. King - 6
9. Ballin - 6
10. Kite - 7
11. Watmough - 9
12. Bailey - 6
13. Stewart - 8

That first poster had it about right, although I'd take a point off Stewart and Bailey.

Bryce Gibbs - 6.5
Robbie Farah - 9
Keith Galloway - 8
Gareth Ellis - 8.5
Liam Fulton - 6
Chris Heighington - 6.5

That comes to 44.5, which seems too high but anyway.

Dragons:

Dan Hunt - 6.5
Nathan Fien - 5.5
Michael Weyman - 8
Matt Prior - 6.5
Ben Creagh - 8.5
Jeremy Smith - 8.5

43.5

I think you've overrated the frontrow and underrated the back row a little bit here.

You may be right, it is hard to tell with players because there usually is so much difference between there best and worst.

8. Bailey - Australian rep can be brilliant, also can average at best
9. Friend - his consistency gives him at least an 8 in my eyes, one of our best week in week out.
10. Myers - i hated this guy at the Broncos, but last year was our best on field, nearly all year, severely under rated.
11. Lafrancri - last year was not his best, hoping for bigger things this year from him.
12. Minochello- Hands let him down, is improving, could be great
13. Harrison - little over rated IMO, is a vital cog, but does not play for us like he did for Queensland.

there is 3 Australian rep players there in Bailey, Myers , Lafrancri , add to that Harrison SOO player, and we should have a good pack, they lack aggression, maybe Bird will address that.

Bench of
White and Cannings both need to step up.
Henderson - will be the surprise packet this year
ODwyer - great utility

Still i would rather underestimate our pack and be happily surprised, then over rate them like Canberra nuffies and be delusional

Not entirely sure who will partner Petero in the front row to start the season, but most of our options are similar quality anyway.

8. Tim Grant - 6
9. Kevin Kingston - 7
10. Petero Civoniceva - 9
11. Frank Pritchard - 8 (could be a 10, could be a 6 - depends on his mood)
12. Trent Waterhouse - 7.5
13. Luke Lewis - 9

Total - 46.5

Hard to argue with those ratings.
Sam Mckendry could be anything i hope he gets a bench spot this year.

everyone is seriously over rating the players... it seems as though everyone is over a 7...

to me it should be a more structured point system eg:

1-4: Should not be near the team but has nude photos of coach
5-6: A good honest NRL player who can play week in and out but not a top player. Eg: Liam Fulton
7-8: One of the better players running around, on the verge of something big or has been a long time contributer to the team eg: Laffranchi
9-10: a deadset gun player, current rep etc. Eg; Watmough

so for my team:
Cayless: 7
Keating: 5
Moi Moi: 9
Hindmarsh: 9
Ben Smith: 5
Mateo: 8

The guy can't break a tackle to save his life.

He managed 11 last season.

Not the highest of numbers, but I'll take that when he's making 120 metres a game, more than the likes of Weyman, Poore, Asotasi, Tronc, Myles, Galloway, Rapira, Taylor... need I go on?

Give a man enough ball and they'll normally go that far.

It's an argument of quality > quantity and when it comes down to it Shillinton doesn't stack up.

11 tackle breaks is hardly worth crowing about.
