Adelaide Bears - Is Adelaide the right fit for Norths?

Over 50s from NSW, whom will only show up in force once a year when a game is played at NSO, and most of whom will quickly disappear once the novelty wears off.

The Bears offer very little to places like Perth and Adelaide, and only out of touch old blokes from Sydney/NSW whom are more focused on how they'll benefit than what's good for Perth or Adelaide think it's a good idea.
How about look at the bigger picture, WA/Perth use the Bears logo and colours, have old farts like myself support them for the 20 to 30 years we have left on this planet.
The pathways of the Bears will feed into WA while WA get to establish themselves over the coming 10 to 20 years.
Supporting teams is usually a generational thing so when us old Bears move on other family members will replace us.
If the Bears do play a few games at North Sydney Oval initially I can’t see it lasting as teams will loathe travelling across the ditch to WA.
Hopefully over the next few years the Bears can pick up some pointers from the Storm.
I’m positive about it all, I hope it happens and I hope it is really successful.

the only people super keen on the Bears are over 50s who are in it for the nostalgia - not where the NRL should be aiming.

That’s actually wrong - there’s more fans in the 30-40 age group than you’d realise. James Brayshaw is actually the mean average age of most people pushing the bid these days.

WA doesn't need old farts like us, neither does SA for that matter, and the juniors the Bears could supply aren't even close to worth the cost that the Bears are demanding.

So how about f**k off and stop trying co-opt the raw potential in the affiliated states for your own agenda. It's honestly just gross and ignorant, and reeks of desperation. It's a stain on a great club like the Bear's legacy and completely the wrong way to go about things.

So where are WA going to get their players from initially ?, people are just so f#cking stupid, if it isn’t the Bears it is going to be another NSW Cup or QLD Cup mob or a struggling relocated NRL club who will shit on WA to get back into NSW.
The Bears are currently 3rd on the NSW Cup ladder, one point behind both the Bulldogs and Newtown who both have 100% backing of NRL clubs behind them.
Remember the Roosters decided to go into the NSW Cup this year with their own Squad so the Bears get minimal help with players from the Roosters in 2023.
But you would obviously have better ideas and cast doom and gloom whenever the Bears are mentioned because you know what is being negotiated behind closed doors lol.

the argument that a Perth or Adelaide team won't have any funds or be able to get players unless they partner with the Bears really doesn't hold water.
Precisely. For a kickoff, they'll get the grant that every NRL club gets, plus there's all the 3rd Party opportunities that being a 1-club city presents.

And that they need the Bears, and only the Bears, to be a junior development pathway is an odd call to.

There are several other options in both QLD and NSW, and ones that aren't hindered by a series of untenable demands.

The comparison to the Dolphins misses the mark. Yes they were an existing brand that brought history and credibility to the new team, but the biggest thing they had as an advantage was an underserviced market in Brisbane.

Adding yet another team back into an over-saturated Sydney market aimed at a niche group, is just not a high priorty for our game.

I'm not particularly making that comment at you mate, more in general at the media and the Bears themselves
Looking at the NSW Cup sides all besides Newtown (Cronulla), Blacktown Workers (Manly), Western Suburbs (Wests Tigers) and the Bears are reserve grade teams of their NRL counterparts.
Out of those NSW Cup sides the Bears easily have the most established NRL pathway.
Apart from Easts Tigers could any other QLD Cup side afford the cost of involved with being associated with a WA based side ?.

All I’ve heard for years is how jnrs in the north sydney area disappeared and the area became afl. Now you’re telling us it’s got amazing pathways? Which is it?
bears, jets, Mounties, Newtown and Blacktown would all be possible nsw options for a pirates partnership. Another 7 or so possible in qrl cup. We have options.

What costs? I would think the NRL club would be supporting the feeder club?

The North Sydney junior competition virtually died but officials have been working hard on rebuilding it.
From ages 13yrs onwards, Bears junior clubs like Asquith and Berowra still compete in the Manly Warringah competition in various age groups with the Asquith club dominant in most age groups.
I’m talking about juniors reps, over the last four weeks the Bears have defeated Manly, the Roosters and Western Suburbs in U13’s, U14’s and U15’s.
The Bears also have teams in Harold Matthews, S.G.Ball, Jersey Flegg (2024), Tarsha Gale and Harvey Norman (womens competitions).
The Mounties are no longer in the NSW Cup.
You’ll find that most if not all QLD Cup clubs are already linked to NRL clubs like their NSW Cup counterparts.
