Clarke needs 22 runs to pass Younis Khan for most Test career runs and 15 runs to pass Bob Simpson on the list for most runs scored as Captain

He's lazy and as soft as butter, always has been. Even early days up in QLD it was one of the reasons he wasn't picked so he sooked and went to Tassie. He's got heaps of talent but he continually gets out the same way all the time. I mean look at Steve Waugh, he was a dasher early days and his record was very simlar to Watsons. Instead he totally transformed his game and cut out the shots that cost him his wicket. This bloke just doesn't seem to me to put the hard yards in.

Yes I fully agree. I had started typing a longish post about this but figured no one would want to read it lol.

Watson is completely incapable of modifying his game, unlike most recognised batsmen have and can do. Even today, he is still getting out the same way to the same deliveries as he did a decade ago.

Could you imagine if Steve Waugh had the raw ability of Watson. He'd have been an unstoppable batsmen.

It's f**king deplorable that nature granted that softcock Watson with the natural ability that he has.

Yep and it's the main reason I would have pissed this cancer off ages ago, all the great players have modified their games over the years or as they got older. AB was a great hooker and puller but he shelved that shot against the Windies because as he said they would get you out sooner or later playing that shot. Imagine Twatto against the mighty Windies attacks of the 80's??? Lol he would have spent a lot more time on the psychiatrists couch than in the middle.

Just imagining Watson having to face the likes of Ambrose, Walsh, Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram et al.

He would've played 45 less tests than he has (at best - for him). He would not have survived.

Akram would've owned him.

Malcom Marshall would have absolutely murdered this tront foot playing around my front pad wannabe.

He is lazy and hence fails to concentrate on his weakness and quickly falls back into his old habit.

Have a look at his eyeline (or position of his head) when he gets out LBW. His head is way outside the line of the ball so he is not watching it onto the bat and/or hitting across the line.

If you head is not in line at this level you will miss one and thats all its takes.

His feet and hands are reasonable but its his eyeline that is the problem so if he doesn't over compensate with his footwork, he will lose balance and basically he'll fall over, which is why his front foot is generally just outside the line of the ball so he has to hit across the line of the ball to hit it.

I know he worked with Greg Chappell but I dont know what they worked on, but what ever it was, he forgets after about 20 runs or so and just loses his concentration.

Is it me or is the ump being very lenient in letting Sharma jog down the pitch after a delivery?

HE runs along way down but not down the middle, generally they have to get off the pitch but he stays just left of centre which is ideal for the leggie bowling around the wicket

Cricinfo have 2 wickets to Starc and one each to Henriques and Somerville. Nothing to Abbott unless they are a bit behind in updating

Edit: They are behind, Cricinfo has Qld at 4/129 but CA website has them at 6/132 and Abbott now has 2 wickets

43.2
Abbott to Reardon, OUT
NJ Reardon b Abbott 9 (23b 0x4 0x6) SR: 39.13

But you go to full scorecard and its well behind.
